Judge Bans Enforcement of Don't Ask Don't Tell

Were they straight one day, and turned gay overnight? Or do you think they were gay all along and living a closeted lifestyle?(I think thats what he was asking)

I wouldn't say they chose to be gay overnight, but marrying, having kids, and living that way for 20 years is a stretch for a closet.

We had this discussion several weeks ago.

I didn't change IPs opinion, and he didn't change mine.

CSpindizzy can you tell me where the straight gene is and what it is called?

If not, at what age did you choose to be heterosexual? Did you give homosexuality a shot?

Why are you asking me about the straight gene? I'm not arguing a genetic link. Can you identify the "gay gene"? The genetic origin?

As for giving it a shot, me personally no. But people have experimented (men and women) and returned to a straight lifestyle. Some remain in a bisexual definition. And some choose a homosexual lifestyle. Some of those return to a straight lifestyle.

Of the 3 that I know. 2 where married, one of them had 2 kids, and had been married for 20 years before leaving his wife.

I know some gay guys in that similar situation. Doesn't mean they weren't gay their whole life. One guy I know almost committed suicide because he hid it for 20 years.

exactly. i know a guy who left his wife and was absolutey devestated about the effect it had on his kids. you'd think if it was a choice, he would have chosen the far far easier option.

Sounds like he made quite a few "easier" choices quite contrary to what he was 'born' into. Seeing how that same description can apply to a straight person who cheated on his wife are people born to cheat as well?

Was this guy born to be a homosexual but first to be straight, marry, have children, and then discover his genetic roots? I'm not following the logic of this process.

As to the suicide.
The wife I spoke of, (that was left with 2 kids to raise) felt the same way. She had no reason to believe (and this was her words) after being married for 20 years and having kids that her husband was gay. If anyone would see the signs it would have been her, if you are born that way IMO there is no way you live 20 years without signs.

To add to it, the husband was asked later on why he left his wife. His response was he fell in love with someone else, and didn't love her anymore.

she could easily have had her head in the sand. it would hardly be the first time.
