I definitely concede the notion less would drink because they wouldn't be breaking the law, which adds to their ego/popularity/etc

I understand the AoC is 16 most places, I just personally think that is too low.

If it wasn't illegal for 16 year olds to have sex in most states then we would have an even more insane number of pregnant high schoolers and stupid mothers/fathers raising multiple kids.

Good point. But I don't think it is illegal, accept for a person of legal age to have sex with someone who is not.

There's most often an age range, but yeah it's not exactly just a simple "sex below age X is illegal"

Some states though have some odd laws on the matter (GA, for example, I think, has some older, more archaic that has/can put away 15 (or so) year olds in the past)

I see something terribly wrong with it if she was not rationally-mature enough to actually give consent. If she was, though, then I see nothing wrong with it. This would be a case where having a handful of psychological interviews from a handful of psychologists would not just be a "check-the-box" procedure (where it would pretty much be a check-the-box procedure for almost everyone under the age of 14).

I do think the age of consent should be lowered to 16.
Having 18-19 yr olds registering as sex offenders because their 17 yr old girlfriend's mom doesn't like them, doesn't seem right to me.

Watching his facial expressions and what I've heard from him, it seems like he believes he did nothing wrong.

The upshot is that you would live in a world in which a man who rapes a child would get to defend himself by claiming that it was an honest mistake, that he thought the kid was mature enough to handle it. The trial would revolve around the child's capacity for sex, not whether the MF was guilty of it.

Perhaps you noticed that the boys Sandusky raped kept going back to him? Sandusky probably thought he was enjoying a series of consensual relationships. If the laws were written your way, that's exactly what he would have argued.

Now give Penn State the death penalty to bring full justice. The students rioting after they fired that old fart for protecting a child predator showed how sick the culture of that school is.
