I was just thinking about Bruce Pearl coming on the scene and making a big positive flash when he first got to Knoxville. Coach Butch Jones has also come on the scene in high gear. Anybody else notice this? Just a personality thing but interesting.

Seriously though, I just think he's happy to be here. I think he's grateful for the opportunity. And I think his excitement about the possibilities and potential for this football program is written all over his face. I also think it's extremely contagious.

I agree but I think it is more than that. I think Butch wanted to be here to prove his system and style could win in the toughest conference.

Both coaches changed the culture around their programs in a short period of time, but I do not see them having similar personalities; thank God.

I had a business associate come to my facility from FLA and we discussed football. He made that comparison also but added his recruiting(Butch)is really surprising the region and more so the nation. I feel Bruce had to shake things up to make us relevant for once in the modern era of basketball . Butch has a program that is as proud and storied as they come and is able to sale what has been here all along. I would say I am as proud of my program as I have been in a long time just for the shear EFFORT that is coming forth from the coach. All of this without the snap of a ball. That's the foundation for winning. IMHO

Unless Martin has us consistently winning the SEC and eligible for the NCAA Tournament plus getting deep into the championship series, I promise you, Pearl is returning. His hanging around the program during his show cause, his continued participation of UT related events, the student, fans, and city's love of him guarantees it. Martinis a hard working and methodical coach. As boring as some find his teams play, they're forgetting that even in basketball, defense wins games. His only lack so far has been a failure to attract high profile players. But then again, with the need to have players able to remain academically eligible, it's very difficult. We may be free of NCAA punishment now but we're still a watched program. WE can't afford more slip ups. Besides that, watch for Bruce to return if Martin doesn't get us championshipping.
