We have the 111th ranked defense in the country, and are still almost competitive, having lost 4 games by less than one score. Our offense is averaging 45 points per game this season. I see no problem with that. Maybe we are cutting our nose off to spite our face.

If we can land Gruden or Patterson, I say we do it!

But if not one of those two, keep from having to pay Dooley's buyout, keep Chaney, and go and get a proven defensive coordinator. ie Zook or Stoops.

We wouldn't have to rebuild and Zook is an amazing recruiter.

I'm gonna hang up and listen.

I would keep Chaney. Just depends on who the hire is though. Chaney is the one coach on staff who won't have a hard time finding another good job if he isn't retained.

Dooley is a Joke, The way he treats former Players makes me hate him. He never takes blame for anything!

we could do that. if we wanted to keep losing

Right.... because scoring 38 ppg and having 495 ypg is the reason UT is losing this year. If Bray didn't choke under pressure, UT would have won about 4 more games.

With your flawed thinking, odds are this isn't the only thing you've been "curious" about....

Its not just losing close. We are losing on very bad coaching decisions, no wins yet vs the SEC, and recruiting is starting to fail.

If we don't pull the plug now, we will cause the next coach to have a deeper hole to dig out of

By no means do I think Dooley is the long term answer, but at what point do you give him another year to prevent having to start all over again? I'm over moral victories, but how low down the list do you go before you say F it give him another year. If Hart is meeting with Petrino today, you are already to far down that list for my taste.

you could give us the BEARS defense and Dooley would still find a way to let this team lose SEC games....he has to go.

so it's not the offenses fault, but it's the offenses fault?

If you can't see the O has been great for about 3 quarters per game... I can't help you. If you can't see that Bray has had repeatedly opportunities to make a play to win close games and has choked every time... I also can't help you.

Chaney has actually made them better than they've played. Bray has not been as good as before. Hunter has dropped balls all over the place. Patterson doesn't know what he's doing, runs bad routes, and gives up on plays too soon. Chaney has schemed well and called plays well. He gets grief mostly because Bray has failed to execute consistently or ever under pressure.

He inexplicably abandons the run whenever he gets a little nervous, even when it's been working fine. I'm ready to see someone else call plays.

no man we have already seen what a change in staff does to Dooley we already tried that his time is up. He isn't a good coach

by and large the offense is fine. by and large, it's the defense that has been terrible.

however, it doesn't matter.....offense, defense, special teams......when the team needs a play to be made in any facet of the game, they fail to do so.

sometimes looking at all the stats is misleading. bottom line is that tennessee, under dooley, fails to make a play whenever they need to......consistently.

So what you all are saying is this is a bad idea?... lol

We need to go elephant hunting, but bringing back someone like Kirby Smart is going to hurt us more than help us. I feel like the extended future of the program is dependent on this next hire, and I could accept another year of irrelevance and go elephant hunting next year to make sure we get the right guy. JMO I'd love to see us get the right guy now, but I'm just not willing to settle on this hire.

if we bring dooley back he will continue his streak of losing 75% of SEC games, then add an Oregon loss to that and all of our offensive weapons leaving.....it will be even harder to get a BIG hire after another miserbale year of poor game performance and recruiting...has to be done now IMO. at this point i think almost anyone you pick out of a hat could do better
