I really liked sitting on the hill at number 6. The players walk right by you and you get to see the players putt at 16 and tee off at 7 and 17

Watching Joe Nobody walk the fairways at a Nationwide Tour event does nothing for me. No big.

So you'd rather be at work than sitting on a golf course drinking beer?

To each their own I guess.

I've been to a couple or Nationwide events and even caddied a couple of times. People would be surprised at the quality of play.

They run a promo here called 'Birdie for 30' where they sell dollar beers at one of the par 3s for 30 minutes after somebody puts up a 2.

That's beats just about anything.

One of my most memorable days was spent caddying in the group behind John Daly a few months before he won the PGA Championship. I had no earthly idea who he was, but that swing was crazy.

I may try to make the Knoxville Open this year. There is always something going on where I can't go.

It also looks like I'm going to go to St. Jude in June for the weekend. It'll be my first tournament to attend in person.

lots of guys on the Nationwide can play though. you can get really close to some good golf. not Masters level, obviously.

i think BPV said once that at the US Amateur there's no ropes.

There's not. I've played in 3 US Amatuers. It's a great experience because a lot of the members come out and walk right down the fairways, acknowledging good shots and offering encouragement. Met some people up in Newport, RI about 16 years ago that I stay in touch with from time to time
