From an article in the Free Press on Volnation website
This cluster f**** of UT management decisions is beyond the pale. 5 position coaches in 4.5 years stupid.
Willie Bo says,
"I look at it and I feel sorry for the younger guys who don't really know how these changes really affect them," Bohannon said. "Being through it so many years and going through so many position coaches -- this is my fifth position coach -- nobody really knows how much it affects you as a player. All you've got to do is really stick through it, and that's probably something I need to tell the younger guys.

I would also add to study the game and prepare their minds and bodies well for next year. Professional teams change coaches all the time. If they have aspirations of playing pro ball they will see this often in their careers. Attending college is a great thing. Make it pay off for yourself. Prepare and perform.

on a lighter note, you learn from 5 minds instead of one... more knowledge....

But I do feel for the players...

I guess the point is if you get better at something by doing it correctly over and over again, a system. And then change that system three or four times over a four year span it hard to be as good as a team that does the same thing over and over. Remember these players range from 18 to 22 I know was not very mature at that age.

Only thing you can do is make the best of it and chalk it up to experience. Take advantage of that free education, too

If you are correct changing again will lead to more "loosing".
Sal's complex defense was too much to learn. Apparently basic fundamentals were too.

They have been dealt a rough hand. Many of these kids have the background to be able to handle adversity, but not of this type

Exactly I think most agree Sal was a Big mistake. All decisions have consequences. I remember when Sal was hired seemed all of VOLnation was excited. Wow we have a Bama guru we will be a great defense now. Everyone said yeah he really gets in the players faces. He is our savior. What a joke!

How would you like to have a new boss every year? It takes several months to adapt not only to their management style but to their personality as well. Our program has been a cluster for several years. I think back to the days of Phil Fulmer when one of our strengths in recruiting was the stability in our coaching staff. We have gone 180 degrees from that.

One thing important to kids is figuring out that you make the majority of your improvements outside of the school run practices. How much time and effort you put into your craft out of your own personal time determines the level of success you achieve. Practice (much like games) is an exhibition of what you have been doing all along in your own time. Students and players must commit to being what it is they purport to be. Fully. The only thing bad for our players is their performance on the field. Which leads me to believe their performance off of it sucks congruently.

Every coach knows the basic fundamentals of football, no excuse for under performing or under achieving.

Sal has not forgot defensive football. The schemes work on paper. To make it work on the field it requires players to learn it and execute it.
Look at P Swag's pick against Mizzou. That was perfect technique. Why not play that way all year? Why so inconsistent? Because of Sal? Hogwash. Three years of losing warrants change. But the losing will continue if we get the same level of committment and dedication from the players. Making the same mistakes over and over again is not being coached by the coaches, imo.

Why weren't the players this bad last year, then? We have the same guys who have an additional year under their belts, and arguably more talent in some positions What's changed?

These guys are consistently out of position and are getting burned almost every single time. You're right in saying the players need to execute - but what if they're not being taught to execute correctly? You don't just become the statistically worst defense in America because the players aren't doing their jobs. They're not doing their jobs because they don't know what their jobs are, and it shows. See: 4th and 12, 4th quarter, Missouri

Regular students should have to do a 4wk clinical on what that 'free' education entails. These kids earn every single penny that goes into them, even if they are too dumb to go to class.

No, I don't know what you are saying, or shall I say, trying to say.

No one coaches that obviously. The coaches job is to get that high level if commitment and dedication from the players? You think Alabama just has all their players coming in with a saban level mindset or he has to help them develop that? Does saban just recruit those type of players better? No and no. The coaching staff doesn't have a plan he players truly have bought into this system and never will unless they have someone extract their potential. Ya know? What coaches are supposed to do.
