Why can they offer more money than the Vols? Seems like that is a huge disadvantage for the baseball Vols. Does it have to do with title IX?
this had been beat to death over the years however in summary VU is a private institution with an endowment of $3.82 Billion. They can offer aid, scholarships, grants, etc., to whoever they want to....there is more to it than that however my answer is simplified.
There have been unnamed NCAA baseball coaches who have said off the record that VU (and Virginia) are playing with 30 scholarships versus the 11.4 everyone else does.....
John Wilkerson mentioned the other day that Vandy had some advantages as far as benefits to players that Tennessee did not have. He said it was out side of scholarships. Not sure what he meant by that. Is there something that they can offer that we can't?
The freshman pitching will come around. It doesn't matter how talented they are, they still need time and experience at this level. It is a big jump from pitching against a AA local high school team to pitching in the SEC. Not making excuses but to say the pitching is not talented enough is a little much. Give them time to develop. Just my two cents.
6 years into his time at UT and we are still depending on freshmen pitchers who may have the raw talent but they aren't ready for the stage they are being put on. The older pitchers on the staff appear to have regressed(Neely, Martin, Freeman, ......)
Lol
You want the head coach to be in the bullpen?
You do realize pitching coaches that aren't head coaches don't even do that?
