Just my opinion...

The 5 second call was a makeup for the blocking foul against Prince because Prince clearly walked before contact was made.

Sure I was. There were some bad calls. But if you think the refs determined the outcome of this one, you need to take off the blinders.

Did you watch the Syracuse v. UConn game? The ref's stopped calling fouls and let the boys play the game. They let the players determine the game, not the refs.

The ref's called a phantom foul against Wayne which put MSU up more points with 10 seconds left. As far as I am concerned, that effected the outcome of the game. Instead of UT being about to shoot for 2 to win, they were forced to shoot for 3 to tie it.

Don't get me wrong, I know our boys played poorly. I know we missed a lot of shots. All the same, the refs need so swallow their whistles and let the players determine the game.

I don't know how the SEC does not have their best crew on the court for the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME instead of some scrub officiating crew.

Watch it again. It's really close. Prince still didn't completely have the ball from the pass when he took that step - he's stepping right as he's catching it. It could have gone either way.

i love the phantom foul called on chism with about 3 something to go in the game. chism never touched the miss st player.

Gee, a coach a huge portion of the basketball community sees as a preening douchebag gets the short end of the stick from the officials. Shocking.

they wouldn't have been in the situation if they went out and played better.

I loved the announcers trying to justify it by saying it was an "anticipation call"

So becuase Wayne might of fouled him.. we are going to go ahead and call it.

I would love to see Bruce come out and call out the ref's for doing such a poor job. Take the fine, he can afford it and tell everyone how poorly this game was handled.

After much thought I've come to the conclusion that the orange sportcoat is the reason the guys played bad and Tennessee lost.

Tennessee lost the game because Tyler Smith and company could not make an uncontested layup in the first half. We should have been up by 10 or more at half. That being said, the officiating by Doug Sirmons in the last 45 seconds was horrible on both ends and hopefully result in him staying at home during the NCAA tourney. There should be accountability for giving 3 shots when the guys foot is over the line, the phantom fouls, a 5 second call then JP pushing the guy out of bounds. Very poor at the end. It still did not cost UT the game. When we stop playing playground ball we might be a solid team on a consistent basis.

UT never gets any respect from CBS or ESPN. It never changes. Plus, why does UT get hosed by the refs in most of their big games?

That, my friend...is the mystery. By the way, did you guys hear the jokes at the beginning of the broadcast-you know, the ones about our school colors, and Pearls orange jacket? Now that really set me off. It's our colors and if you don't like it, don't fn look! Jacka$$es!

No Tennessee shooting about 29% is why we lost. Of course they are going to pull for MS...thats just selling the game to the audiance.

I'm not a Verne Lundquist fan, but I do think Bill Raftery does an excellent job of color man. He was just as excited at Tennessee's big plays as he was with MSU's.

Finally, a voice of reason. There were terrible calls on both sides. (the no-call on J.P.'s travel on his way to the basket, the no-call on Chism basically sumo wrestling a guy out of bounds, etc.) The better team (that being UT) is supposed to win that game, with a championship on the line, and we just didn't get it done. All the things that have plagued this team all year - tentative, disorganized half-court offense, poor outside shooting, Tyler trying to do too much and playing out of control, J.P. making awful, boneheaded plays - came back to haunt us. Our offense was awful. The defensive effort was actually pretty good, especially on the parts of Chism and Williams, but it went to waste.

I mean, yes, a 9 seed is a bit harsh given UT's RPI and strength of schedule, but in a way, I actually prefer this. Pearl's teams have always done better as the underdog - the "alley cat" as opposed to the "fat cat," to quote Hat's friend's analogy. If we beat Oklahoma State and at least give Pitt a competitive game, I'll be impressed. But the fact is, we've been splashing around in the kiddie pool with Auburn and Alabama and MSU for a while. It may get ugly now that we're back to swimming in the deep end.

the announcers actually had a lot of great things to say about us and our players throughout the game. mostly in the first half. maybe at half time someone told them to stop talking about us the whole time so they started mentioning MSU more. i'm not going to sit here and whine about the announcers though because they had just as much, if not more, good things to say about us.

lazy stupid teams that are careless with the ball...(how many turnovers did UT have)....and miss free throws in clutch situations are probably the reason why UT gets "hosed" by the refs in big games....give me a "f" ing break.....
