It was actually 7-6, right? So yeah, Butch is right on track if "right on track" means "needs 3 straight wins". Also, how many times did Saban get blown out that year? How did they play against the eventual national champion LSU team? Didn't they blow out a top 25 ranked rival (Thanks again Phil)?

He might not have been blown out but he did lose to a terrible La. Monroe team and after starting 6-2 lost 4 straight.

I thought it was called recruiting.

Way to perpetuate the serial sports talk radio caller who leads with "Hey Fellars".

And people wonder why ESPN and others portray Tennessee as backward rednecks.

Why do you care what they think? Don't you know that in the north it's just a bunch of pretentious a** holes, west coast is a bunch if gay hippies, and the Midwest is just a bunch of dumb cowboys and farmers. Or maybe it's the cajuns' opinions that you're worried about. (Don't you just love stereotypes).

Yeah, I think everyone on this board heard about that one at least 5 times a day during the Dooley years.

But let's look closer: That terrible Louisiana Monroe team was bowl eligible (a rarity for them) and lost two of its games to top 25 opponents. It was still a bad loss, like the one Butch nearly had to South Alabama. But setting that aside, Saban also beat two top 25 teams that year (including the aforementioned blow out of rival UT), played the national champion to within a touchdown, and didn't lose any game by more than a touchdown. That's a pretty solid "rebuilding" year. I know folks on here want to wave "Saban lost to La. Monroe" like a magic wand to excuse any failure our coaches ever have, but you might want to look more in depth and see how competitive, overall, Alabama was that year and contrast that to how we've gotten absolutely slaughtered in 4 games so far (including a loss to a team with less talent).

It's too bad you like losers!!!!! When are you going to wake up and realize this team is worse than Dooley's?????

It is worse than Dooley's and it probably has somthign do do with the fact that we lost two first round WR's and an NFL QB (albeit a 3rd stringer).
The defense has improved over last years unti that gave up 10000000000000 points to troy.

Where did I make an excuse? Simply stated a fact. If you choose to discount that fact because you have heard it "5 times a day" then so be it, doesn't make it any less of a fact. UT has beaten the teams it was supposed to beat and lost (with the exception of USCe) to the teams that it was supposed to lose to.

Yes, as you point out, UT has been beaten handily by 4 teams. Forget the fact that those four teams only have a total of 3 losses among them. You cannot really think that the first year schedule of Saban was anywhere near the difficulty of Jones's first year, can you? 8 Teams on Saban's schedule had 5 or more losses that year. Jones has had to coach against 7 teams ranked in the Top 25 at the time, with 6 of them being in the Top 10, including the #1 and #2 teams on the road. For the record I don't believe that Mizzou had "less talent" than UT either. Star gazers make that argument but Pinkel has been there long enough to have players that fit his coaching style and system.

Long story short, give the coaches a chance. Not even a full season in and there are already fans screaming that these guys can't get it done and never will. Let's have a staff stick together for more than 2 seasons and see what stability can do in terms of wins and losses.

Dooley had 2 first round picks at WR and a qb who is on an NFL roster and also a TE who is starting for the Raiders and couldn't make it to a bowl game. This team has receivers who have never played at this level and true freshman qb and will hopefully win 6 or 7 games this year including a win over a ranked team which dooley could not ever do.

So I fail to see your logic. You sir are an idiot.

So much hate and stupidity in this post. All of your analogies are negated by the strength of schedule disparity. Sabans played one top 10 team that season, ONE. On top of that they did not play the #1 and #2 teams. Nor did he play 7 straight games against ranked opponents, with 5 of those teams ranked in the top 10. Keep on hating though, just makes you look dumber by the post :hi:

K-Town you have to realize something about Tuscon. He told me he is right all the time because he is old, lazy and calls things like he sees it.

Epic fail on intelligence.

As badly as we have been beaten the last three weeks, I don't recall seeing us lose to Kentucky starting a 4th string QB who normally plays WR, nor do I forsee vandy ever....EVER beating the crap out of us the way they did last year.
