What was Sabans Record his first year with the recruits Shula left behind? 6-6 I think CBJ is on the right track.. Get em Butch!!
It was actually 7-6, right? So yeah, Butch is right on track if "right on track" means "needs 3 straight wins". Also, how many times did Saban get blown out that year? How did they play against the eventual national champion LSU team? Didn't they blow out a top 25 ranked rival (Thanks again Phil)?
I thought it was called recruiting.
Way to perpetuate the serial sports talk radio caller who leads with "Hey Fellars".
And people wonder why ESPN and others portray Tennessee as backward rednecks.
He might not have been blown out but he did lose to a terrible La. Monroe team and after starting 6-2 lost 4 straight.
It's too bad you like losers!!!!! When are you going to wake up and realize this team is worse than Dooley's?????
Yeah, I think everyone on this board heard about that one at least 5 times a day during the Dooley years.
But let's look closer: That terrible Louisiana Monroe team was bowl eligible (a rarity for them) and lost two of its games to top 25 opponents. It was still a bad loss, like the one Butch nearly had to South Alabama. But setting that aside, Saban also beat two top 25 teams that year (including the aforementioned blow out of rival UT), played the national champion to within a touchdown, and didn't lose any game by more than a touchdown. That's a pretty solid "rebuilding" year. I know folks on here want to wave "Saban lost to La. Monroe" like a magic wand to excuse any failure our coaches ever have, but you might want to look more in depth and see how competitive, overall, Alabama was that year and contrast that to how we've gotten absolutely slaughtered in 4 games so far (including a loss to a team with less talent).

Dooley had 2 first round picks at WR and a qb who is on an NFL roster and also a TE who is starting for the Raiders and couldn't make it to a bowl game. This team has receivers who have never played at this level and true freshman qb and will hopefully win 6 or 7 games this year including a win over a ranked team which dooley could not ever do.
So I fail to see your logic. You sir are an idiot.
