Just to add to the SEC Refs are a Joke Thought

Then why do I see green, shows and valentine so many times a year?

There are refs that work "primarily" in conferences. For example, Lindsay works "primarily" SEC and ACC games. But he still occasionally works other conference games.

Fwiw...There's no such thing as "SEC refs". They work across various conferences.

There are SEC refs, but they also do one or maybe two other leagues. Most officials work in two leagues. But the SEC has a set list of the same officials. I could probably name half of them, although I am sure they have added some because of the two new teams.

I just happened to follow officials watching games through the years, but if you google NCAA officials, there is a website that tracks them all. It tells you their leagues, gives their schedule once they do a game, and gives stats for each game.

Now I understand. Gerald Boudreaux is the SEC head of officials. Makes sense now. He was just as bad.

Boudreaux was the worst ref in SEC history til Valentine came along. All of the SEC refs are a joke. Wish I could run the conference for 5 seconds. I'd fire all football, basketball & women's basketball refs & start over. None of them have a clue.

Was there a controversial call late in the UK game? I saw a press release from the Boudreaux. Evidently UK may have had 6 players on the court late in the game, and it wasn't called?

No there is not SEC refs.

Haha. Yep. I also remember Buzz getting tossed in a game at South Carolina. It may have been the single worst officiated game I have ever seen, aside from a rec league game.

My daughter's rec teammate got a technical yesterday for cheering from the bench. Literally cheering for her team while sitting. She's 10.

Ok, so maybe our interpretation is different. Officials are independent contractors and work multiple leagues. But the reason you see the same ones is because the SEC has contracted with a certain number. Not just any D1 official does an SEC game, otherwise you would see many different ones. So, there is an argument that the SEC has their own list of officials- just not exclusive to the league. I can tell you that there is a person that watches every game and provides a report to the officials and the league, so the SEC has some authority over them.

Coming out of a timeout, Noel thought he was in, but he shouldn't have been. UK assistant John Robic pulled him to the sideline before the ref gave the ball to the inbounds player.

The rule is that there can only be 5 on the court when the ball is given to the player. There were only 5. They had a brief discussion about what exactly happened, then played on.

Just to throw some gasoline on the fire, this is from last night...no whistle at all. Jim Burr needs to retire now.

That's pretty funny! But you know what's waaaaaay funnier than that......

......a Kentucky fan complaining about refs!

I think that my track record on refs is pretty clear. They suck, but good teams tend to get the benefit of the doubt.

That said, this is obviously ****ty work.

I saw that when it happened. I was wondering if my eyes had suddenly gone bad. I wonder how much closer that ref needed to be to make that call?

I saw that live, and I agree that something should have been called. What you failed to say is that the OM player was pushed before falling with the ball in his arms.

But, yes, something should have been called. How funny that UK fans are now complaining. If that had happened at Rupp, it would have been just another properly officiated game in the last 50 years.

So, we are going with the good team argument. I have seen many games where the better team on that night got screwed. I always felt like UT didn't get the same calls at home as a UK or maybe even others.

It is pretty clear that the SEC wants perfect seasons in football and UK to succeed in basketball. In 2004 in football, when UT played Auburn in the SECCG, Auburn was undefeated and still had a shot at the BCS Title. UT played well, and it was one of the worst officiated football games I have seen. It was clear the SEC wanted a perfect season.

He couldn't see over his belly, obviously.
