Just watched most of the Notre Dame game against Loyola Maryland.

Seems like any team we play right now would include getting us in foul trouble in their game plan. We aren't likely to draw fouls and get to the line ourselves, based on the games played so far, and worse, we aren't likely to adapt to how the refs are calling the game. Our game plan shouldn't count heavily on getting to the foul line and winning that way. We've just gotta out-shoot, out-rebound, out-run and out-defend them, that's all

The fact is we just plain foul too much. Overeager, trying too hard to make a play, not getting and giving weak side help. We'll get better but right now it's a problem.

A lot to worry about on the road how are the Refs gonna call it are they gonna put them on the line like they did ETSU or will they let the players play. I believe if we lose it will be because Notre Dame got to the free throw line 25 to 30 times. I'm seeing a lot more contact allowed in the men's game without fouls being called. The women's game is becoming a foul fest.

Looks like playing ETSU for our first game was a good thing for the team: away game, packed arena, loud fans, and adversity, which our team overcame.

Coach Kellie:

On playing at Notre Dame:
"In terms of our turnaround, one thing that I'm actually happy about now, our first game was a road trip, so this will not be our first road trip. I think that's a big deal. The environment and atmosphere over in Johnson City when we played was really good, and it was loud. I fully expect Notre Dame to be an amazing place to play. I expect it to be loud and tough, but I do think we have a little bit of that under our belt now with our first game, so that's a positive for us going over there. Hopefully (it) won't be a complete shock to our system. There's no doubt the game is going to be tough. There's no doubt. But you know, I think it's what's good for us, and we're going to know where we're at. We're able to walk out of there and know exactly where we stand this early in the season."

We have tons more team speed than they do.
Put the speed team in (JH, RD, ZG, RB, TK) and they can't keep up with us

Also Height5'4, 5'8, 5'10, 5'10, 6'2 We tower over them
But then
We towered over Overton

I was not impressed. I think we're the better team at this point in the season and yes, I know I'm biased, but I still like our chances next Monday in South Bend. :)

Lady Vol fans after a blowout home win over a cupcake are my favorite Lady Vol fans...

The weak side defense has to get better. Hopefully someone will slide over and take a charge.

As you know, those tiny players (like Overton) often have the unworldly lateral quickness that gets them a scholarship in the first place, and what makes them wildly successful against the taller teams. We struggle to stop dribble penetration, and when they get by our tall guards, often the officials call “big player fouls” on the posts who step in to guard the layup.

What we need is a Debbie Black-type defensive pest to stick like glue to the Overton-type players. Debbie was small herself, but she could shut down those speed demons by pestering the heck out of them all over the court. She had the type of relentless energy that irritated opponents sooooo bad.

I long to see an irritating pest of a defender like Black in orange. *sigh*

Muffett will have them ready. I hope we can effectively exploit our size advantage. I’m also hoping our guards are ready to hit shots because they’re gonna pack it in.
MM is pretty cagey. Don't be surprised if she forces the guards back to start the half court deeper. Then the big will move further from the hoop or present long passing lanes for interceptions. That's how I would play it. IF they do, KJH will have to set up more on ball screens to create slashes to the rack. That could bring their defense back. Maybe, we'll see Monday
