Animal "rights"...

Remember how we laughed at gay "rights" two decades ago? What "rights" were they denied? The right to twerk in front of kids? The right to cut off children's balls and tits?

Do not be surprised at the rate this is going if animal "rights" leads to Fido and Mittens having voting rights or entitlements in the next two decades.

I've used a similar example several times when people today are outraged over the past. Fifty years from now people might look back in horror that we "own" animals ... a perfectly normal and acceptable practice today. The point being that standards of behavior go with points in time, and you can't judge standards of the past any more than you can predict what will be the standards of the future.

Exactly. Fido might attempt to make you happy and maybe do what you want ... letting you think you "own" a dog. Mittens on the other hand ... cats have staff, and you better not forget it. Funny thing is people sometimes pay huge prices to be owned by a furry four legged something or other.
