DC is really, really late to the game. To be honest I only look forward to Disney franchises in regards to big movies, Marvel/Star Wars.
Its not that they are late (although I have always preferred Marvel even as a kid reading the actual comics) its that they have hitched their star to Zack Snyder who, God love him, is a stylistic genius but cannot create an interesting movie. Its all flash no character, no story, no engagement. They had Nolan and let him go. Now they will flounder in the muck spending 200 mill on a movie to have to wait to make it back internationally and wonder why.
Also I get Superman died but really? Justice League without Superman? That is like the Avengers without Cap.
Rumors/Reports coming out this morning that Joss Whedon (Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron) is closing in on signing with Warner Bros. to Write/Direct a Batgirl film.
Whedon knows how to write a female hero from doing seven/eight years of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.
This is just the latest big director news from Warner Bros. & DC with the rumors that Matt Vaugn (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle) is in talks to write/direct the sequal Man of Steel 2.
All this comes after Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes) recently signed on to Direct & Co-Produce the much anticipated upcoming film The Batman starring Ben Affleck.
'Justice League': Danny Elfman to Compose Score (Exclusive)
Superman, Batman and now Elfman.
Danny Elfman is going to dole out the sweet sound of justice, coming on board to compose the score for Justice League, Warner Bros. all-star superhero extravaganza, THR has learned.
The hiring comes just as the additional photography, with Joss Whedon standing in for Zack Snyder, for the movie gets underway in London. Whedon is overseeing the new shoot and post-production work on League after Snyder stepped aside to deal with a family tragedy.
Snyder had been working with Antonius Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL, on the movie. Holkenborg, who scored Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and counts movies like Mad Max: Fury Road and Deadpool among his credits, is now moving on to Tomb Raider, according to sources.
Elfman has some familiarity with coming in late on projects and with working with Whedon. He was brought on board in the later stages of making Whedons 2015 superhero movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, adding to the music already written by Brian Tyler.
Elfman is one of the big names in the movie music field, known for his long work with director Tim Burton, early comic book movies Batman and Batman Returns, among them. He also worked with Sam Raimi on Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, among the filmmakers other titles.
Sounds like Affleck is being ousted as Batman. News dropped a couple weeks ago the new director of The Batman is ditching Affleck's script in favor of his own which is a planned trilogy.
"...it would be wise to bet against Affleck starring in The Batman,"

Meh. This sounds like unsubstantiated gossip to me. Affleck's Batman is one of the few bright spots of the DCEU. Ousting him would only further the "train wreck" reputation that the DCEU is trying to battle back from.

I actually if I recall questioned the casting because of his age back when the news broke of Affleck taking the role in BvS.
Affleck will be 45yo (Aug. 15) in just a couple of weeks and as one article I saw said that he would conceivably be in his late 50's or better by the time all the possible DC films in this incarnation is finished.
That's if he stayed in the role through at least two more Justice League films plus any stand alone Batman trilogy. Not to mention any other DCEU films (ala Downey Jr.) in say any Batman/Gotham City connected film like the Suicide Squad sequels plus the upcoming Gotham City Sirens directed by David Ayer or Joss Whedon's Batgirl and a possible Nightwing film on the horizon.
