Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

When you are ready to unwind after work, one of my favorites is Reds (the one with Bruce Willis). I keep telling my wife I'm ready to watch that series again. Mary Louise Parker steals the show with her expressions.

Ive lost count of how many times we’ve watched Red . It’s a great cast but it’s hard not to appreciate how stupid funny John Malkovich is in it .

Hate to inform you, luther. "Old man cynicism" is wisdom from having watched all that went on and then seeing younger generations "who know better" repeat or do worse. Watching cycle after cycle of kids who can vote but know nothing about life is pretty much like being forced to watch "Ground Hog Day" ... over and over again.
Those are the words of a cynic. There are many who live long enough for true wisdom to lead them back.
There's still hope for you and a handful of others on here.

Gardner signals support for taking up Supreme Court nominee this year

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), who is facing a tough reelection bid, signaled on Monday that he will not oppose taking up a Supreme Court nominee this year to fill the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat.

“When a President exercises constitutional authority to nominate a judge for the Supreme Court vacancy, the Senate must decide how to best fulfill its constitutional duty of advice and consent," Gardner said in a statement.

"I have and will continue to support judicial nominees who will protect our Constitution, not legislate from the bench, and uphold the law. Should a qualified nominee who meets this criteria be put forward, I will vote to confirm," he added.

Gardner's decision comes as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) appears increasingly likely to have locked the support within the Republican caucus for moving President Trump's forthcoming Supreme Court nominee.

I can accept that people have a problem with poor character. Does it mean they will be sitting out elections from now on?
It means the person with better character should get added consideration.
It's actually a fairly simple concept.

Trump should nominate the most conservative judge he can find ASAP, upholding his constitutional duty to nominate a new justice.

Grassley, Ernst pledge to 'evaluate' Trump's Supreme Court nominee

Iowa Republican Sens. Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley, both members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Monday they will evaluate President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee to fill the vacancy after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg last week.

“Once the president puts forward his nominee for the Supreme Court, I will carry out my duty — as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee — to evaluate the nominee for our nation’s highest court,” Ernst said in a statement.

Grassley, a former Judiciary Committee chairman, echoed the notion of giving Trump’s nominee a fair shake, adding that he thinks the decision to move forward on the confirmation process should be up to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who have both said the Senate should vote on Trump’s nominee.

Still hope for others on here for what ...... come to believe in the same politics as you?
Believe in the killing of unborn children (abortion) because you don't want children and it's the easy way out..

I am trying to understand your position. You are upset that the Senate, which is controlled by Republicans, is going to vote on a nomination for a SC vacancy by a Republican President? The nomination process Garland was much different in that Republicans controlled the Senate at the time and chose to block the nomination just as they had the ability to do so at the time. If Democrats controlled the Senate right now, they wouldn’t be voting for Trump’s nomination and they would have every right not to. This temper tantrum being thrown by the Left is going to drive out a lot of other voters who were going to sit this Presidential election out like myself. Packing the court, adding additional states like Puerto Rico is sheer lunacy it is a debt ridden disaster, and abolishing other Senate rules, etc. isn’t just going to energize a group of voters that was already going to vote against Trump.
He doesn’t understand chess.....he’s still trying to figure out checkers

I have written letters, made calls, sent e-mails.
More than that however, is the fact that I consider character a primary issue when picking a candidate.
I'm on record claiming that Jimmy Carter is the president I most admire and that I consider him one of the best presidents of my lifetime......knowing full well the kind of idiotic and shallow responses that will elicit from the peanut gallery.
I’ll give Carter the nod on being a moral and upstanding man, but the guy sucked as president

According to the article you posted above ..... I'd say yes to answer your question.
As parents that have kids, once they grow up & get out on their own you can only hope & pray they know how to become a good citizen to the community they live in and not to cause hurt or harm to other people.
I went back and edited my post to include the link when I found the story. When I wrote the question, I wasn't positive, but thought that is whose son it was.

It goes a long was in the principal's office, and in a court of law.
Not from my experience.... it usually means you got your ass whipped. Unless the get sucker punched.... you typically know when you’re going to have to defend yourself ..... and the best defense is a good offense. Never ..... ever.... let them hit you first..... kick a man when he’s down and never give a sucker an even break. Trust me

That would be Amy Coney Barrett. Tucker Carlson had some R-Senator on his show tonight that gave her excellent grades through out on what & who she is and stands for. Said she learned her stuff under SCJ Antonin Scalia.

Would you hire Mark Richt over Urban Meyer?

Prefer Steve Young over Joe Montana?

Pat Boone or Lynyrd Skynyrd?
I would pick Peyton over Ryan Leaf.
If you don't think teams in the NFL consider character when drafting, you're nutts.
I can tell you first hand that college recruiters are very concerned with character.
I don't view character as something that is more important in a football player than in the POTUS.
