Kahne "Sick" and Angry at RPM

Dinger and Ambrose have been royally screwed over. AJ re-signed thinking he'll be the top dog, and Marcos left a fully sponsored ride, for what he thought was going to be a Chase contender. The King shouldn't have merged with them and should have done everything humanly possible to have kept Petty Enterprises going.

Maybe Kahne doesn't look so bad for walking away like he did if he knew something the rest of us didn't.

Perhaps.

Still if RPM folds what happens to the 9 and 43? Those are two pretty famous #s in the sport do they merge with a team like Front Row or what? Who buys the OPs of the 19/98 as well? This whole deal really just sucks all around. Not only for AJ/Marcos but for Richard as well.

I could see AJ at Gibbs and Marcos back in Australia. As far as Richard, I'm starting to understand why his son, Kyle, doesn't get along with him.

If junior continues to suck with Alan Gustafson then he will be out of excuses.
As an 88 fan, that's a combination I'd like to see. I feel like there are deeper rooted issues with the 88 team than just the crew chief as most of his fans believe (driver, crew chief, crew, on down the line), but at least Gustafson has a winning background with multiple drivers.

Jr. fans crack me the hell up. They're all just about as dumb as Jr. You remember that semi-retarded line Jr. came off with whenever about how he'd rather lose with his cousin than win with anyone else? There are actually a lot of his fans that agree with that sentiment. Even though things have been absolutely no worse with McGrew, they still practically beg every week for Tony Jr. to come back. Hilarious.

Anyone paying any attention saw this coming for RPM with Gillett's money situation with Liverpool. The good ole boy bought the snake oil.

Sirius-Speedway.com: UPDATED: Turmoil Surrounds Richard Petty Motorsports

RPM & RFR confirmed after Talladega that RFR will no longer supply RPM with cars or motors.

UPDATE: A number of Richard Petty Motorsports employees who had planned to join Kasey Kahne at Red Bull Racing next year were reportedly told by management today that that their services are no longer required, effective immediately. SPEED.com reported today that one of the reasons Kahne was released by the team is that RPM owes him a substantial amount of back salary.

Wonder if that means Kenny Francis has also been released?

I just can't believe Ford would potentially let this happen. That is, to have four Ford cars parked for the rest of the year due to Gillette's idiocy. You would think someone would come to the rescue in this situation. Maybe not, but to see 4 "average" cars parked for the rest of the season and see some of these others in the shows is a travesty - and I'm not a Ford fan at all. I really do hate it for the teams and especially Allmendinger and Ambrose going into next year. But hey, they had their respective chances. Ambrose could have stuck it out with JTG Racing and Allmendinger had the opportunity to bolt for Childress after last season from some published reports.

I know whatever happens in the next several days will be very interesting.

The real culprit here is George Gillette, another in a long line of non-racers who are enamored with the sport, and get in over their heads financially.

Paul Menard and Kahne along with Sadler saw this coming, I suspect they haven't been paid in full, hardly anyone has. RFR delivered the Taladega cars today sans engines, and it's reported engines will be forthcoming only if paid for.

I cannot see Ford or NASCAR sitting by while this goes down. Surely their will be some arrangement to finish out 2010.

They'll create an alliance with a Start and Park team before they lose there locked in status for next season. I'm sure Childress will be wanting a locked in spot for next season with his 4th team and he'll have to buy it unless Harvick wins the title.

There are rumors that Petty is trying to organize a group of investors to buy majority ownership of RPM.

There's no bait. He is leaving the team. There's no reason to give him anything but lemons, especially when it became obvious he wasn't going to be in the Chase.

Here's an example of baiting: I like when you try to talk NASCAR. It works out about as well as it does when you try to talk football.

Hahaha. I likely know more about Nascar than you yourself. I've watched and read about the sport for years. But continue on with your gross misjudgments of my knowledge or lack thereof and I'll continue to laugh and consider that I'm dealing with an arrogant blowhard.

Kasey and RPM mutually parted ways. If you were going to take sides here and you are aware of Kasey's talent and RPM's shortcomings, one would usually side with the driver, but you roll a different way I've noticed.

You realize Allmendinger drives for the same team, right?

Why would I not know that? Seriously what is with you guys. You haven't gotten by now that I'm a Kasey Kahne fan? He's also teammates with Elliot Sadler and Paul Menard --formerly Bill Elliot and Jeremy Mayfield.

Allmendinger is a guy to watch closely. He's been outrunning Kahne for the better part of 6 months.

Kahne's latest comments. For anyone who doesn't know it will be Brian Vickers and Kasey in Red Bull cars next year. Scott Speed has a clause in his contract that absolves Red Bull of responsibility if he doesn't finish in the top 17. He will be a free agent.

Talks are still continuing with regards to the 83 changing to the 4 next year.
Kahne defended his decision not to return to the race after repairs were made, saying he was sick and unable to continue. He was offended that an RPM official questioned his commitment, saying he needed to do his part to help the team.

"Anybody that questions my commitment doesn't know me very well,'' Kahne said. "I don't know if there is anybody out there that puts as much into it as I do throughout the week.

"I was sick to my stomach and it was time for me to call it a day. I'm happy I did it and ready to get on with this weekend.''

I don't know why the 82 doesn't become the car for Kasey, the 83 is Vickers' number. I wonder if Morgan-McClure will allow them to use the 4 anyways.

I like how Kasey said he was committed and how dare anybody question that. Then he left the race track and was suddenly well enough to run a 5K the next morning.

Supposedly Bud will not be paying the final installment of its sponsorship contract to RPM.

You've never been completely fine a day after having a stomach ache? Really?

And can anyone blame him for not getting into a car that has been plagued with problems all year for a team that is giving you zero backing, allocating your resources to other teams and in financial disarray? They don't even have a sponsor for the second of two teams they are being downsized to for next year. The companies Ray Evernham founded and Richard Petty made famous are being run into the ground by a guy that knows zero about the sport. There isn't even a guarantee they will be able to field cars for all of the remaining races this year!

It's not even like the car was going to be competitive -- he was laps down already. Kasey was staying on until the Homestead race as a favor. The ideal situation was to get a head start on next season with Red Bull. He made the best of a bad situation.

Kasey didn't give up on the team. The team gave up on Kasey.

It hasn't been said for sure whether Vickers' car will be the 82 or the 83. I assume if Kahne gets the 4 then Vickers' car will be 83. I don't know that though.
