Katy Perry to release country song?

I say go for it. The stuff they pass off as country now isn't really country. It should fit right in.

Just throw it on top of all the other garbage "Country" radio tries to pass off as the real thing.

This would be the worst song to ever hit country radio, which is REALLY saying something about how awful it is.

And supposedly Demi Lovato just finished writing a country song. What's next, a country rap from Eminem?

I agree completely... I think Taylor Swift is a large part of the pop infestation into country music. Because of her music and her music alone, millions of tweens and teens who had no prior interest in the genre have turned to country radio. Every high school girl in Michigan went to go see her at Ford Field it seems like, and it sold out in minutes. Now they think they are country fans. She's the biggest shake-up to country music since Garth, but this time, it's really, really bad. A part of me died inside when she was thanking people like Nicki Minaj for her past year at one of the country music awards shows. She's country by birthplace only.

Oh, and lulz at the Eminem part. It wouldn't shock me at this point. Watch, next every song will get dubstepped, too. Radio is going to Hell...

It's somewhat uplifting to see a lot of country music fans here hating on radio country.

Party on.

Although I will say that I do like Carrie underwood. She fits in well with the old and the new country.

Country stopped sounding like country in the late 90's. Nowadays it's either Taylor Swift or people trying to out redneck each other to bad rock music.

Country music has simply been top 40 pop with violins since Garth Brooks and Billy Ray hit the scene.

That's why I laugh every time I see some post on facebook about how great country music is these days over pop music... It's the damn same.

I'll still take any modern country over any Lady Gaga or Katy Perry song.

country music is like what vh1 used to be...more adults singing and not teenagers.

I place country with the likes of old richard marx songs which i'm ok with.

I'll take neither. Modern country and pop like the acts you mention are both shallow, vacuous mass-produced crap with little to no sign of actual musical or lyrical forethought. One just happens to have violins and American flags plastered all over it.

Chet, Merle, Hank, Loretta. THAT'S country music. The stuff on 105.whatever The Wolf is not country music.
