I would say just based on size alone. This guy is more of a 5 instead of 4.

DeWitt is already 23 years old, and his checkered past is hard to piece together. He was supposed to graduate from Andrews HS in High Point, NC in '06 but he apparently failed to do so. He ended up at Charis Prep, where he played two seasons though there was talk that he had enrolled or was about to enroll at Ocean Academy in NJ at one point.

DeWitt then went to Chipola after failing to qualify at Missouri, and he played two years there. He played in more than nine games this past season but Chipola's reported stats are very spotty and incomplete. He broke his elbow in a game this March.

DeWitt, who had committed to both West Virginia and Missouri while in high school, was easily the best prospect on the floor and that was obvious almost immediately. The face-up four has a superb skill set for a player of his height, and if he bulks up he could be a stud in the C-USA.

He was recruited to Southern Miss by assistant coach Greg Heiar, who'd been the very successful head coach at Chipola for five years. DeWitt apparently wants out of his LOI due to Heiar's departure for Wichita State. IMO, that's where DeWitt will likely end up.

Heiar was able to help lock up a stellar 2011 recruiting class at Southern Miss, which included Keith DeWitt (#5 on our Top 100) of Chipola College. There are rumors flying that DeWitt has asked Southern Miss to release him from his National Letter of Intent. Now let’s connect the dots. For those who don’t know, Heiar spent five seasons as the head coach of Chipola College (FL), one of the best junior college programs in the country. At Chipola, he went 164-15 and moved 39 players on to Division 1 programs. If in fact DeWitt has asked for his relase and Southern Miss actually granted it, the most logical move would be for DeWitt to follow Heiar to Wichita State.

Thanks for all of the info from the OP and topic focused posters. DeWitt may stay loyal. If not and he wants to spread his wings I am sure Coach Zo would like to talk with him. There are ample minutes available for a quality big.

No....I'm sure you know twice as much as the coaching staff. That's why you're posting on here, because you're so damn smart. Hard to believe you aren't head coach.

So, please share your thoughts on Dewitt.

Sounds like a logical plan to me.

Might as well recruit every halfway decent big we can. The signs do point to Wichita State, but the allure of playing some BCS ball might get him for us
