Kellie Harper discussion/debate thread [merged]

I am reading these posts laughing out loud. So many purely negative assumptions about everything from A to Z. No one here knows which people are declaring for the WNBA, whether Key is staying, and no one knows what players we may get in the portal. So much negativity and assumptions. Most importantly, no one knows how we end this season. Now, those are facts.

Okay I will stick with facts.

1. Our best players are upperclassmen and will be high draft picks. They have not stated that they want to come back.
2. No recruits coming in next year.
3. Have not signed anyone in the portal.
4. Our best underrclassman has had very little playing time or development this year.
5. Our team has not beaten a ranked team.
6. Coach Jumper can be there today.

Now I am really depressed!! Can we skip sticking with “Just the facts”.

why worry, Next year's team will have plenty of talent. A couple of Alabama corn fed chicks, a Tx/Tn non-scoring guard, a small ky girl guard, a tall ga girl, an invisible NJ sharpshooter and two, count em two Darbys for the price of one

Losing:
Franklin
Walker
Horston
Jackson?
Key??

I put ? because there is at least some chance that Jordan might use her covid year and take NIL $ to remain a LV. I think that is a low probability but a higher probability for Key, who could play herself into a number one slot.

So, our line-up could be a healthy Key rotating with Hollingshead and an improved Justine stepping in as a primary scorer, with a hopefully improved Tess and Sara. If Kellie could sign a quality PG (who can shoot) in the portal, with Powell as back-up, that line-up could be competitive. Finding one more good scoring option would be very helpful. Even if Key opts out, Hollingshead is looking more and more like a player who can be force in the post.
Kellie should just hire Horston as an assistant coach. She has coach written all over her!!!

You trust this staff with that roster?

I have never heard of a player in any sport who was projected to be a first round draft pick in their pro league who turned it down because of NIL and yet y’all will talk yourselves into believing it’ll happen this time

Camden Sewell did it

He wasn’t drafted and he was actually about to quit baseball entirely. He had accepted a “regular job” before he changed his mind and decided to re-enroll at UT to use his Covid year
Yes, context was missing on why he came back. Wasn’t as easy as NIL > MLB money

I was thinking more NIL vs WNBA third round draft pick money

Whoops: Sorry....I missed the phrase "first round draft pick" in initial comment. I agree...RJ isn't coming back.

Horston is also projected first round

Yeah...I mean she obviously isn't coming back either.

I don't know who has a year remaining due to covid. But, was more thinking about Key or Franklin types who might do a Fulky type sixth year.

Everybody except Walker and Franklin have eligibility remaining next season.

Ok. Armed with that info....

My guess is that everyone on front row is gone.

Everyone on back row returns except for RJ and Franklin.

Just wild speculating

Not clear why one would assume that Edie will be transferring. Rennie has been committed to the program and again its not obvious why she would leave, assuming that she wants to keep playing. I think Miles and Wynn can expect bigger roles next season if they up their games a bit. Powell has to sit if she transfers again so she will likely be back. Rickea yes the WNBA is calling, Likely the same for Jordan H. but I could see her opting to use her Covid year if the NIL is right. Who knows about Marta, given the circumstances.

They beat SC don't remember if they were number one know they were in the top three for sure. That and yes she is not doing the job here I agree we need more than that one win against top teams.

She will have her chance in a week. I wonder if 21,000 will show up for that one?

Relax, we don't know what's going to happen. Maybe Paige Bueckers will decide to transfer to Tennessee? Maybe Kellie will make a surprise run to the championship which leads to a four-peat?

Common sense y'all...

Powell can grad transfer so she won't have to sit out another year.

With regards to elite players playing an extra year when already projected to be a high WNBA pick...if there's strong likelihood for Tennessee, one would assume it's also strong likelihood for the other schools that are expected to graduate top picks this year.
