Kennesaw State vs Tennessee Tech (ESPNU)

I think Appalachian State could very well move to CUSA and there would be an opening for KSU in the Sunbelt Conference.

KSU would also have the backing for a CUSA bid school wise. I could see a fit in either conference. And be very competitive. But, we well know on The Hill, the coach makes a big difference. Bohannon's ability to build the program so quickly in his 1st HC job shows how integral the HC is to success on the field. A change in coaches could flat line them into an average team.

I think KSU will leap past Georgia State also

GA State has improved, but they will not be able to keep pace with KSU in the long haul. KSU prob already has a better roster. And better location. GSU is a hard sell being a downtown campus. It's hard to know you're actually on campus as you walk down the sidewalks. Good choice for an MBA though.

Location, location, location. KSU has grown from a JUCO in my HS days to an FCS school of 35,000 and has only had a football program for a few years now. And Bohannon the only coach. And in their meager 4-6 years of existence in football have climbed to be one of the top FCS programs.
Diamond in the rough for FCS schools.

KSU has been very impressive building their football program. They played Georgia State last week and lost by a touchdown in the last minute. A move to FBS for KSU would be very difficult and I can’t see them entertaining it for at least 10 years. Georgia State is much more likely to go to C-USA or the AAC than KSU ever would. GSU is a 50,000+ student research university. KSU has a mediocre academic profile and is not a research university so their state and federal funding opportunities are more restricted. When looking to move into higher profile FBS conferences those things matter a lot. University presidents do the voting on these moves. On the athletics side of things, Georgia State’s football facility at the old Turner Field are very nice and getting ready to get even nicer. A new basketball arena is on the way. KSU is awful in men’s basketball and that will be a problem for them moving forward. As long as GSU is in the Sun Belt, KSU has no chance to get in at this point even if they were willing and able to do so in the near future.
