Here's what a guy on volchat that has seen Hall play many of times had to say about him. He is a writer for the AJC i believe.
"I'm not certain about "far and away" but, yes, the consensus is that Favors is the best player in the state (not just the ATL), regardless of class. From what I've seen (and I haven't seen everybody), I certainly wouldn't disagree with that.
Right now, from what I've seen, Hall isn't close to Favors. The biggest difference is defense. Favors is a much more aggressive, polished defender. They're almost the same in size, but Favors has shown the ability to dominate the game even if he isn't scoring. He nearly averaged a triple-double this past season while playing in one of the state's toughest regions. Hall, OTOH, averaged only 2.4 blocks despite his size and length. That's where I think Hall has the most improvement to make. When the two teams played in November, Favors basically overpowered Hall, holding him to 3 points (1-6 FG, 1-5 FT) and 6 rebounds. Hall is definitely better than that, but that gives you an idea.
On offense, they're closer, but Favors still gets the edge. Hall does have very good footwork around the basket and an array of moves. He's solid with the ball in his hands and will score 20+ consistently. Hall also runs the floor rather well for a guy his size, I'd say better than Favors. What Favors might lack in flat-out speed, he more than makes up for in quickness, agility and strength. He's almost impossible for any high school players to guard one-on-one and averaged well over 20 points despite seeing double and triple teams almost every time he got the ball, it seemed.
In the end, I really like both players. You could, perhaps, call Hall a "Poor Man's Favors," if you will. But I also think it might be fair to say Hall has more room to grow, both physically and as a player. If he really works on his game over the next year or so, he can be a lot better than he is today by the time he arrives in Knoxville. And he's already a first-team All-State guy with what I'd consider a bit of an unfinished product."- atlscribe
