Anyone else notice that Kenny Hall has missed dunks in four straight games? His dunks are the result of either small hands that can not palm the ball securely or mis-judging the rim and his jump.

The missed dunks were not just casual lost scoring opportunities. They all occurred in big key moments of big games and affected the outcome.

Kenny needs to understand that the basket will count even if he lays the ball in the basket. Every point counts with this bunch.

There's a reason I'm re thinking level 5 of my drinking game as :

"A play that would be top ten on ESPN, but it ends out failing"

and it's single handedly because of Kenny missing absolutely monstrous dunks.

I just think someone needs to slip a little gunpowder in his pre-game meals while he's listening to 2Pac or something else with a little edge to it. The man needs a bit more anger on the court.

If I'm not mistaken it started after he posterized the MSU guy, and was on the top 10. It's like since then he has been trying to duplicate it and get back on the highlights.

I remember at least one of those misses being blocked, but the defensive player that blocked it didn't get the credit from the commentators. I think this was the one at the UConn game. They showed the replay at least 3 times, and it was clearly blocked. But in any case, yeah, hall has missed a few dunks. He gets a bit overzealous at times, but it's not a huge deal IMO.

Against UK it was a big deal. IIRC it was still pretty close when he missed the dunk off of an inbounds pass, missed an opportunity to cut the lead.

I had the same theory about Kenny's small hands and missed dunks last week. Have seen similar occurrences with Maymon, only on lay up attempts. Glad someone else has also picked up on this. Never saw this type of problem with Hopson or Prince. Bigger hands.

The guy is 6'9, really should small hands even be up for discussion.. He just doesn't have the burst a la Big Baby

Agree. I mentioned this a couple of games ago but to his defense, two of those were called for. Last game, a block and then the UK game, he got hacked going up to the rim. But yeah. I wish he would lay it in sometimes.

We have lost some very close games recently and each of those two points that he missed were huge.

I think so. I'm sure his hands are big compared to average size people, but he's obviously loosing control of the ball en route to throwing it down. It's either sweat, small hands, or hand strength. The NBA measures hand sizes as part of their combine route for a reason. There's a difference between big hands and huge hands. The bigger your hands, the better your ball control will be, and one less thing that factors in to the success of an offensive move.

Rather see him missing dunks than his previous lethargic self.
I'll give him a break because he's trying.

Simple solution: USE 2 friggin' hands.

That'd be best. Don't know that he has the hops to pull of some of the moves he's does and finish with two hands, though. We just need a player or two that can play above the rim. Poythress would've been a really nice addition. If you go by his YouTube clips, that's all he can do. :)

The dunk vs Uconn when mcbee dropped it down to him was 2 hands. The guy can dunk with 2 hand easy, just trying to make the top 10 again and beat his chest. Make the simple play flush with 2 hands.

Missing dunks has to do with either not having enough elevation or trajectory of the ball. There are times when a finger roll will suffice. With Hall its a personal choice, on a dunk he can stand under the basket and scream, on a finger he gets the same amount of points, but, not the finger pointing a dunk creates. He needs to learn when his elevation is short and just lay it in. You can be the club sometimes, but, there are times when you need to just be the rapier.

Stuff the ball so that you can feel the rim on your wrist 1 1/4" below your lowest palm crease.

Listen to me for I am a dunk master. My internet height is 6' 8".
