UK is just going to reload next year with another talented recruiting class. But I think UNC will be the obvious favorites to win it all next year because they have experience to go along with all that talent.

What ever happened to the graduation rate deal and it's affect on schollies? UK might not graduate another incoming freshman. Is there a loophole I'm not aware of?

I think if they leave in good academic standings its OK.

Yep, as long as students who are going pro still attend class in the spring semester and make the grades, all is well. Daniel Orton hurt us last year by mailing it in during the spring, much like I assume Selby is doing to Kansas by staying in Vegas and working out.

As it should be. You can't penalize a university for churning out professionals, even if they are doing so without actually finishing a degree. Athletics or not.

I would guess many mail it in. I know I'd have a hard time going to Western Civ if millions awaited me very soon and I needed to get physically ready

Certainly that's where loyalty and character come into play.

Yeah, you're going to have several who mail it in and get C's, which is understandable. However, just leaving campus all together and letting all 4 or 5 classes take a dump is what really hurts the situation. Last year's spring semester for UK was actually great, minus Orton.

What is that, a C? D? So a kid can take minimal freshman hours, pass, then leave and it has no affect? But a kid can go for 3-4 years, have a bad semester, leave, and it counts against?

Certainly that's where loyalty and character come into play.

loyalty to what, the system that made you go to school in the first place or maybe to yourself to make a better life for yourself and/or family? Maybe you mean the loyalty to a school that gave you a couple thousand dollars and made 100x that off you? Take the money and run since they don't owe anyone

if it was me I'd take off and get a trainer until I had to report to my new team. College is to increase your earning potential and they did that already

Of course UK had a decent semester minus Orton. The guys paid to take classes and tests for Cal's players had to maintain decent grades in order to get paid. :)

I'm with PJ on this. If Millions of $$$ and Fame were awaiting me, why would i bother taking spring classes that are worthless if I have no intention of ever graduating? I'd be out..

You do know that last season UT was one of only two schools in the SEC who would not publicly release the GPA of their student athletes? Dare to venture a guess as to why? Quit pretending like you're own school or any other for that matter doesn't do the same thing.

more character and maturity rather than loyalty
It's always interesting to see who does and does not hold up the academic end of the bargain in their last semester. OJ Mayo, who I doubt fits anyone's definition of unselfish, saved USC from losing a second scholarship for APR problems by finishing up strong in the classroom.

I bet if you took a look at Knight's class schedule you would think twice about that statement. As much as I hate UK most of their kids are doing the right thing when they decide to turn pro. Orton was a ruhtard.
