Kentucky boys entering draft.

You do know that last season UT was one of only two schools in the SEC who would not publicly release the GPA of their student athletes? Dare to venture a guess as to why? Quit pretending like you're own school or any other for that matter doesn't do the same thing.

UT had 5 players graduate this spring from the basketball team. UK might not graduate another player under Cal. That's awesome.

And if all of Cal's one and done players are beign drafted and signing million dollar contracts, what does it really matter?

They need to graduate. Making millions feels empty without that piece of paper.

I hope he sent the same message to the UTAD in the late 90s when players were leaving left and right after their junior year to go pro.

And obviously he hates Eric Berry too.

No it's okay when it happens on the Hill. Just don't let it happen in KY.

Yep, as long as students who are going pro still attend class in the spring semester and make the grades, all is well. Daniel Orton hurt us last year by mailing it in during the spring, much like I assume Selby is doing to Kansas by staying in Vegas and working out.

Hardwood - what are your thoughts on KY's likely starting 5 next season and how will it compare to this past year's team?

I've never had a problem with leaving early. I think kids should be able to skip college and go straight to pro, as in hockey and baseball. I'd be gone too, as I did after my jr year in '92. The system is jacked. College athletes have always been referred to as student athletes. Cal runs a farm system and 1 out of 5 of his recruits gives effort in the classroom. Maybe Orton and Cousins should stay for some finance classes or something because it's highly likely that their money will be gone before they are 30.

I'll agree the entire system is screwed up, but why get angry at a guy who has figured out how to take the system and be successful with it?

I personally wish the NCAA would implement a rule system wide similar to baseball that if you sign you are going to be there 3 years.

Good discussions are better than jabs, agree? I'm not mad at Cal for manipulating the system. I'm not emotionally invested in much to get mad about. My initial comment on this thread was in response to a ky fan dogging UT academics, while at the same time using the wrong version of "your". A player and team can be punished if a player leaves after having 1 bad semester, even though said player may have been in good standing for the last 6-8 semesters. Yet a freshman leaving after taking a few hours of bs classes is fine and doesn't affect the numbers. That's backwards, IMO.

Take your own advice about good discussions and read my post again. I'm not dogging UT athletics, I am simply making a point that it's a universal issue, not just UK.

Assuming all 3 that declared stay in the draft, I think the lineup will be teague, Lamb, Miller, Gilchrist and Davis. Wiltjer is solid as hell and will play all the minutes he wants. Liggins coming back would be the difference maker for the ceiling of this team.

Liggins comes back and this team could be better than 2009. Only difference is Teague is not near as fast as Wall, but no one really is. Liggins can make more of a difference than some might think.

Teague is faster than Knight, but doesn't shoot it as well either. Liggins is most definitely the X factor IMO.

Teague is more of a true PG than Knight was. He is more like Wall but not near as fast. I have seen him (Teague) play in person a lot through the years (his brother too). Should be a fun team to watch next year if the mesh well.

Wall is a great athlete, but his inability to hit a 3 cost UK quite a bit. Teague will fit UK to a T. Gilchrist and Davis are absolutely incredible, and Teague dishing it to them on the drive is going to be deadly.

Just ditch the requirement to attend a year of college to go pro, so those with NBA skills can go straight there. For those that do go to college, make em stay at least 3 years.

That might, and I stress might, cut down on coaches walking the tightrope of what is and isn't allowed to get these NBA players in school, and possibly keep school athletic departments out of trouble.

It's a stretch, I know.
