Kentucky denies that Joker Phillips has resigned

UK should hire Phil Fulmer

As funny as that sounds, Phil will undoubtedly beg for an interview. Since Barnhart is a former UT guy, he'll probably give him one.

I just don't think that Fulmer is what UK needs. He mailed it in the last few years for UT.

Can't wait to see who Kentucky hires. It is going to be a shoot for the moon and hope to land in the stars type thing.

The stars are further away than the moon....

So, if what you're saying is you hope to overachieve, then you clearly don't know much about the UK football program.

He's got some stamps left.

I've actually heard this from people who know Fulmer personally. He is undoubtedly interested.

Honestly, I think your best bet, and best hope for long term success at UK, is to go after (a) an OC or DC at a solid mid-major program, or (b) a HC at a successful FCS school. You're going to have to be patient enough to give them 5-6 years to figure out how to recruit / develop / coach / and then win in the SEC. But I could see UK turning into a consistent 7-8 win team, and a serious spoiler in the SEC.

Hiring "re-treads" has not worked, and probably never will. Although I think Petrino would take the HC job at Our Lady of the Worthless Miracle just to get back in the game. He would win...just long enough to jump ship to a bigger program when they came calling. A zebra cannot change it's stripes.

It will be interesting to see which path the AD takes.

I agree

I was afraid Ky would get smart and hire Mike Leach. He would've won 8 games consistently there. Joker beating UT got him another year and Leach was hired by Washington St. I think Ky will go the OC/DC hire or FCS hire like a previous poster mentioned. Retreads do nothing but keep the seat warm.

Who would you take for the job right now-Dooley or Petrino?

If I were the AD I think it's got to be Dooley. You have more time at UK than you do at UT (Joker isn't getting the benefit of this because of the success he had as OC) which may work better for Dooley. My hesitation with Petrino has to do with the way he's left every program he's ever been at. I don't care he cheated on his wife, that's not the coolest s*** ever but I pass on him because of what happened at UofL, Atlanta and Arkansas...plus he'd bolt as soon as a better spot opened up.

I think if you have to make Jim Tressel say no before you go to anyone else. Mike Leach would be an interesting name, he runs a gimmicky offense which I don't particularly like to watch but I do like to win and some people suggest that may give us the best chance. I wouldn't hate Fulmer or Tuberville...

Alot of people like to poke fun at Joker and his time as a HC. What is not funny is he and Dooley have the same SEC record. Jokers wins in the SEC at least on paper, look better. Why is Dools still here? Oh!! That's right, UK expects more from their football program than we do. :eek:lol:

Lose to MTSU and see how quick his desk is cleaned out.

Wouldn't that be hilarious if UK hires Fulmer and he already has Randy Sanders there in place, then he goes out and gets Cutcliffe and somehow convinces the chief to leave LSU. Then he grabs Tee Martin from USC to come back to UK. It'll be like old times, just slightly north.

And he would probably beat Dooley and this team 27-13.
