Kentucky might be tough.

Some of y’all never learn lol. It’s Kensucky. Are they better than they have been, historically? Yes. Are they a team capable of winning 6 or more conference games and beating elite opponents (especially on the road)? Heck no.

Kentucky is not beating Tennessee. They are not beating Alabama. They may win a nail-biter against Mizzou next week. But when the dust settles, they will finish either 4-4 or 3-5 in the SEC. Mark it down! They are a mediocre team.

Sometimes I wonder if part of Tennessee’s problems are mental. Florida dominates Tennessee, who in turn does the same to Florida. Yet, for the most part, Tennessee takes care of Kentucky. It doesn’t make sense.
I'm sure home field played a major part. If last years Bama game had been in Tuscaloosa, would we still have won? If last year's SC game had been in Knoxville, would we have won? Don't know. But now that we have beaten SC in our back yard we took care of business. Florida at home last year, we won. Lost to them in the swamp. Seems like home field really has a advantage. Now, Georgia comes to Knoxville this year. Hope we can keep H.F.A. alive.

The problem for me is I have absolutely no idea if we are good, mediocre, or below mediocre. We have not played anyone yet. We play in the weak SEC East, so that helps us since Florida and South Carolina are both again weak, but I think a lot of unranked programs would be 4-1 or 5-0 against our schedule to date.

As a result, I have no idea if we are continuing an upward trajectory from the level of the last 15-16 years, or are we just a continuation of mediocrity that we have been since most of the kids currently playing were in pre-school?

I could see us winning out and going to the SEC Championship game all the way to us going 2-5 over the next 7 games...or anything in between. Given how easy our schedule has been to date though, I really don't know yet.
