Was scanning a UK message board, and there is not a great deal of optimism up north apparently. One interesting thought from a UK fan that I'll quote, and then a link to the thread I was reading....

UT may be overrated and if they are that leaves us in deep yogurt. We have failed to get fat against the same SEC schedule that UT plays. Our performance against top 50 RPI is dismal (1-8). Our wins have come against weak opponents and some of them have been very close. The only possible redemption this team has is a deep run in the NCAA and that would be very difficult. The fact that Pearl has turned his team around with the same players speaks volumes about his coaching ability.

Prediction wise... I think this is a very tough game. No way UK goes down without a serious fight. But.... This figures to be one of the greatest atmosphere's ever seen at UT for a Basketball game. We win this game!

86-UT
81-UK

GO VOLS!!!

Oh, I'm really hurt that I don't measure up to your standard for being a mouth breathing, unthinking, uncritical lemming fan.

If you question my credentials as a fan, I'll pose a question to you. How many cross country flights have you made this year to attend basketball games this year? I'm at 5 now.

Personally, I think it's a fair criticism. The most recent evidence, the Arky game, would bear that out. Still, I think these guys can bounce back and play the kind of ball we've come to expect to see.
I'm not gonna dump on Hat for calling it as the evidence of three days ago indicates.

You win, I'm truely not a fan because I am currently in London and can't afford $800 flights back to the states to see a game.

I did however find a pub where I could watch them at 3am.

They were on E from the Florida game. I don't think they'll be on E for Kentucky. They're a little banged up, but still in great shape.

Lofton regains shooting touch. Wingate plays a like a man posessed blocking shots and snatching rebounds. The bench mob comes in without skipping a beat giving the vols a win at home to close out the season.

I would consider that a miracle.

Look, i'd be the first one to jump on Hatvol for his comment, but you can't help but maybe think that this is the case...the style of bball they play, it kind of breeds running on empty sometimes.

the difference with this team though is and has been their ability to bounce back. I thought they'd get killed by UF after the beating Bama put on us, i was wrong.

I thought we'd lose the 1st UK game when they made that run on us late in the 2nd half, i was wrong.

I thought we were in for trap games against UGA and USC. I was wrong.

So, as it turns out, i think UK is one of those teams like Bama and Ark have been lately, trying to build up the resume for the tourney. their back is against the wall. I think UK will give us everything we want and then some.

i don't think it will be a blow out either way, but if they get hot inside, and get the ft line, it could be a long night for us.

it will take a great effort inside from Major and Dane, especially rebounding wise.

Though, the atmosphere in TBA should be awesome...they are offering the game on pay per view here, so i'll be watching.

UK comes out on fire, gets early lead, and keeps it most of the game...UT stays close all game long, and makes a run late to win it.
UT 81
UK 78

The pubs in London are open at 3am? And you can watch a UT basketball game?
Now that is truly amazing!!!

You see the same phenomenon in New York and Boston for World Cup and English Premier League Soccer. Those fans are REALLY hardcore.

MOST close very early by American standards, but you can find them where Americans go to watch sports.

I don't think you're consuming any illegal substances. I hope you're right. I simply have my doubts.

Let's also be frank, this game means a whole lot more to Kentucky than it does to us. It would be nice to win, but I'm more concerned about being back up to full speed for the SEC tourney and beyond.

I think everyone is overplaying the idea of Kentucky being on the bubble. There have to be 34 at large teams. Kentucky already has a better resume than some teams that will make the tourney. A UT loss will continue a trend that could ultimately result in the team being a 5 or 6 seed. The Vols will have real trouble surviving the first weekend if they fall that far.

The tank is on E?

At Florida, the tank was on E about 10 days ago. Billy Donovan and Noah are pushing it. Uphill. Brewer was killed and eaten by the others last Thursday. Humphrey and Green walked off in the middle of the night last Tuesday and have become hookers at a truck stop.

Watch out for being on E at this time of year. If you are right, Hat, then it is a rapid descent into also-ran hell.

Lawgator, as a fan of Bob Knight and Bob Huggins, I'm well aware of what a team on E at the end of the season looks like. It takes a really unique team to keep intensity from mid-October until late March. My gut is that playing for Coach Pearl isn't a picnic.
