Rumor has it that it is settled for Kentucky Speedway to receive a Sprint Cup race date for July 2011. The only question seems to be which track loses a date for this to happen.

Logic would say it would be another Bruton Smith track since his corporation owns Kentucky. Loudon would be my first choice. Otherwise, California would be next on my list.

Which track do you think should lose one or which track do you think is most likely to lose one.

They are saying Atlanta is going to lose their second race.

I vote for Loudon as well, I hate that track.

Any of the road courses. I see Ky getting a race the death knell for Nashville Superspeedway.

I wouldn't mind seeing Iowa or ORP get a race, that's some good racing on those tracks. I also wouldn't mind seeing Rockingham get a race back there either, I'd like to see another road course too, maybe Road America.

Agreed, but ORP would never get a race since the Sprint Cup already races at IMS.

I wish Loudon would just be dropped from the schedule period.

Just my two cents.

I read that too, but do not understand taking Atlanta instead of Loudon or Pocono. I assume it will have to be a Speedway Motorsports Track. I can't see ISC giving up a date for Bruton. I even saw where Bristol was considered, but don't think it will happen.

I selfishly hope they give up Loudon.

Since Kentucky Speedway is getting a race in 2011, I say California loses it's second race.

I say Kentucky will take Loudon's date in early June. The Nationwide already go there in mid-June anyway so it would set up for a combination weekend. I also see Loudon and Atlanta losing a date. I don't want to see New Hampshire or Pocono lose a date simply for the uniqueness they bring. I hate cookie cutters so I welcome tracks like Pocono, Loudon, Phoenix, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised that within 2-3 years Iowa receives a cup date.

Also, as someone stated above, this could be the beginning of the end of Nashville. Dover Motorsports has already dropped Memphis and now will drop Gateway next season. Maybe Nashville is next. The Arca series have already dropped the circuit.

I have a friend who is an executive with AMS and he says they are not losing a date. He thinks its going.to be New Hampsire but isn't 100% sure. He thinks California should be the choice to drop a race but says "Bruton has a real hard-on for that place and is determined to make it work out there". He did say that things could change and that AMS could wind up being odd man out but right now that's not the case.

I am a little uncertain as to your friends knowledge, California is owned by ISC, not Bruton.

I have never been to a NASCAR race where the traffic wasn't horrible...:dunno:

it's never taken me 3.5 hours just to get out of the facility.

race traffic is relative. i know waiting in the car after the race is part of the ordeal, so i'm ready for it. i've never seen anything as unorganized or so poorly thought out as Kentucky.

Please note the location, then it makes sense.

Apparently Chicagoland is going to be hosting the first race of the chase next year as well.

Well, Jayski is just reporting that Atlanta has lost a date.

Yeah I spoke with my friend about 3 o'clock today and he said most everyone was shocked when the news came down. He said Bruton played this one VERY close to the vest. He said most people think this is a bad move including some NASCAR officials but it is what it is.
