Kentucky vs Lady Vols this year

I don't see what the big fascination over
Kara Lawson is . So she was a sports analyst.
There have been other Lady Vols who played
,better than she did. Just because a woman
played Lady Vol basketball doesn't mean
she is coaching material .

Well, she did actually get rave reviews from her boss at the Boston Celtics, as well as from several Celtics players, for her coaching abilities, so she did have coaching experience that was recognized as being strong.

At the college women's level, she also was successful in coaching 3x3 for USA Basketball.

That said, Duke IS Lawson's first job running a D1 program, and the jury is definitely still out on her. I've seen several impressive motivational talks Kara's given her players, and she has a lot of great things to say. My concern for her, though, is how long a group of college-age kids are going to listen to her lectures before they start rolling their eyes and tuning her out. She doesn't appear to have the personal warmth that Kellie has boatloads of, and so I have wondered what her players reeeaaaaalllly think of her. Do they find her overly preachy and un-fun? I very well may have at the age her players are now.

Of course, quite a few old-time Lady Vols weren't particularly fond of Pat Summitt, yet their respect for her authority was unquestioned. Time will tell about Lawson.

if you’re watching the speeches so are recruits which is the reason for the release. She has to win for it all to connect but she has the benefit of players knowing who she is by being on TV

I agree, for the most part. But I know you know connection isn't just about winning. The best coaches are the ones kids have a deep bond with -- their coach makes them willing to run through fire for them.

From my observation, Kara is cerebral to the nth degree, and somewhat guarded in her interpersonal skills. Yeah, everyone can see plain as day that Kara is absolutely brilliant. I was one who had her at the top of my list of potential hires. But I do have concerns that her personality may be an issue. Or I could be -- hope I am -- totally wrong.

And this is the lesson Kellie has to learn for players who aren't cookie-cutter players. Alpha-athletes will not "run through fire" for you out of fear, controlling or intimidation...they will only do it out of respect and to honor you/their overseer...Try to instill fear or dominance over them and they will either shut-down or resist fully.

Intimidation and controlling PT might work for other players, but a player with a dominant personality will not cower. Players like that have to admire/respect their leader(s)... And once you get that respect, they will not only run through that fire, they will literally sacrifice their self for you.

When I have a Alpha in my own unit, I know better than to take away their natural leadership tendency...instead I help them to understand that when they are in a position where they cannot be "the lead" ,, they have to use their ability to lead by setting an example, of how to follow.

What's the point? That team had a superstar freshman that took over and was the best player in college basketball. It's hard to believe it's been that long.

Just do happen that Kentucky coach was on the team, and so was KH. They were ride a longs but they did their parts.
Kellie and Kyra were hardly “ride a longs.” You might want to brush up on your LV history before spewing such stupidity! Kellie averaged nearly 30 minutes/game while Kyra averaged over 20 minutes. As far as scoring, Kellie averaged 8.5 PPG and Kyra averaged 5.6 POG. Both were VERY important cogs on that NC team!

Also Kyra Elzy was the defensive stopper on those teams. Had the most incredibly long arms ever! Fought through knee injuries. A beloved LVFL

WRONG! Your lack of knowledge is telling! She was a sophomore!
I stand corrected. My memory from the championship era isn’t as sharp at 45, winning runs together. The beauty of this is we are still 7-6 and that era brings out the frustration based on your all caps. Glad I could bring joy in correcting me. I need to get back in the kitchen now.

*Not sure what’s more concerning, the all caps aggressive or how many days it took for someone to correct it….maybe that’s telling

Exactly. Probably went back and researched it all now trying to look smart. As a matter of fact that is exactly what happened judging from the specific stats. I'm not impressed.

The point is that teams wasn't winning jack $$$$ without Holdsclaw, but could've won replacing Player A with Player B. There were dozens upon dozens of those.

Unlike you, I don’t camp out on here every minute of the day looking for every opportunity to criticize Kellie and her team!

At the time, I don't think either of us criticized Kellie. There was just a discussion about the difference in the two teams, the possibilities, and I said that there was no comparison. But now that you brought it up, hiring Harper was a reach and she has done nothing to change that.

don’t go 7-6, don’t get criticized in year 4. But that’s just me, unlike you. My standards are what they are, yours seem smaller.

Feel free to state where I was wrong.

Yep, on a team with a roster size of 11, there were dozens and dozens of other replacements. What an uneducated person you are!!
