Kentucky vs. Northwestern

Not sure which call was dumber, Stoops going for two or Fitzgerald going for it on 4th and 1 on the wrong side of the 50 yd line...

Really wierd game. Could've done without the refs wanting to be the star of the show..

It was like both coaches were so afraid that they'd lose that they freaked out at the slightest opportunity to put the game away.

What 10th game should we have won? I can totally see 8, maybe 9 on the schedule where hindsight tells me we should win. Unless you're including the bowl game, which was a better matchup than Vegas and the media thought at first.

You went 7-5. You should have beaten UF and should have beaten Ole Miss, and could/should have just beaten Northwestern.

That’s 10 wins.

Fitzgerald was just plain stupid multiple times. I don't know him well or watch NW games, but without Jackson that's a worthless team.

Stoops showed no ability to adjust or read a situation. NW is doing one play all game to get yards. If we had Snell and the right play, then maybe go for it. If your defense was getting scored on constantly, then maybe go for it. But instead he ignores those factors and blindly takes a chance.

Stoops being a defensive coach....I'm really surprised he didn't trust his defense to stop NW for 25 yards in OT

Don't know what conference these refs are from. But they have to be the worst refs in college football. No way should Snell get thrown out. The ref put his hands down trying to help Snell up. He just pushed them away. Then the targeting call on Northwesterns leading tackler for the year was not a targeting hit. He hit the Kentucky player between the numbers.

You have to be used to winning football to close out games like tonight. They have not done that since rich brooks.

I don’t think Kentucky can do much better than stoopsid. Most Cats on this board seem ok with what they have. Today is just their reality.

I think fans just always want progress. The current coach is doing better than the last one. Kentucky is at least making bowls now. The rumblings have already started though and higher expectations are coming.

Stoops will either continue to get better or eventually he'll reach the end of his time there. The question is whether Kentucky can hire better. A bad hire can set you back a decade as tn fans know.

Nothing wrong with going for 2 there, but Fitzgerald tried his best to give that game away in the 4th quarter. Going for it on 4th and 1 on your own 39, and when they had 4th and goal from the 1/2 yard line and they called a reverse pass play. They could have just kicked the 18 yd FG to go up by 10 late in the game. Even if you do go for it, just run the ball behind your OL, which had opened holes against that horrible UK front 7. They had already run for over 300 yds, but Fitzgerald tried to get cute. That was a hard game to watch because coaching was bad on both sides.

Actually disagree with this. Stoops and Co. actually coached a really decent game. Without Benny, with Johnson hurt, and some key players missing, they really shocked me to be able to stay with NW. I don't like the going for two. But to be fair, a day or so later I'm not melting down about it the same way.
