Kentucky week

Because A&M gifted them 2 turnovers inside the 20.
The South Carolina offense production was horrible. I watched the game - neither defense was playing well.

Rattle boy straight up sucks ass. 12 completions out of 5 million. On a couple he might as well have just closed his eyes and tossed off.

No. Never have been. Never will be. Tennessee doesn't worry about Kentucky football. I am 45 and was raised in a time in which UK was a gimme. I will never respect them. I will never acknowledge them as a relevant football program. I will never worry about them. I expect to win by 24.

Kentucky's window closed when Tennessee hired Coach Heupel.

Anyone else worried about Kentucky? Talk me off the ledge, please. This week could easily derail our season. ( disclaimer. I suffer from severe BVS)
I just find it how amazingly cocky many fans have become. I get the smack talk, but this is a big game. We need to be as insanely passionate as a fan base about winning this game as we do every other game, because those have come and gone. That makes this game more important than those were. Why? IF we lost, those games mean so much less. IF we lost, the next game means so much less. IF we lost, our season means so much less. I think we are better from a fan base to the players when we play like we are on the ropes. We are not invincible. We are not playing a crappy team. Do I think we will lose? No, but I'm not taking this game lightly.

The only team left on the schedule that can hang with Tennessee is Georgia and i think the Mildcats will be going down by 4 touchdowns. There is no reason to be nervous about Kentucky whatsoever they have a poor offensive line and a slow defense.

KY has the 109th run O in yards per game.
KY is 122nd in yards per rush.

Tennessee has the 8th best run D.
Mississippi ST is the best rush D KY has seen so far at 58th.

Tennessee will be the best run D KY has seen by a huge margin.

KY will be forced to pass just like everyone else to try and keep up. No ones passing O is as good as Tennessee’s……..can they keep up? On paper no…….I guess we will see.
Regardless I think they'll have somewhat the same gameplan as last year at least until we stop it. I highly doubt they're going to try to make it a shootout with us

I’d worry about a letdown if this game was the week after Bama, but we had UT Martin so I’m not even the slightest bit worried.

Agree with your thoughts but would add that we have developed a good run defense that I think can take away KY’s ability to control the ball. Also, I think our pass rush against a weak KY line will be enough to hide our problems in the secondary. Vols by 2 TDs!

Any pressure on Levis will help him make bad decisions...

I understand, but it almost entirely falls upon the coaches and players to be the ones taking Kentucky seriously. As fans we can speculate and treat them lightly with very little effect on the outcome.

I say very little, because I guess it’s theoretically possible for players to read what we put out and then assume Kentucky is a win and not prepare correctly, but do you really believe that this staff and the leaders in the playing corp are going to let that happen?

The only real way we can have an effect on the outcome is by showing up in force when the game is played and making as much noise as possible at true appropriate time.

I'd worry about a letdown once we've won a championship and then the next year we face a team that we think we should beat the week before we play a rivalry game.

But since we are a program that's building from damn near the bottom, a letdown is not possible for this team, because we aren't up on anything. We are fighting for the Eastern division title. No way I believe the team will lose focus. They haven't thus far. The only reason it has even been brought up is fear-mongerers and worry-warts. Which is a topic for another thread entirely..

Bryce spent a large part of the game running for his life and got absolutely drilled several times when he couldn’t get away.
Is Levis a better scrambling QB than Bryce Young?
Is his O-line better than Bama’s?
Is his RB better than Bryce’s?
Does the KY defense have 2 stud disrupters like the 2 we totally shut down from Bama?
Is their secondary better and faster than Bama’s?

Ye of little faith who think this team won’t be ready for the kittens need to stop living in the shadows of past craptastic coaches and non confident players.

The rest of us would like to welcome you to today’s Vols where the mindset is one game at a time and this team’s belief that they can win every game they play.

Technically, we still control our destiny regardless of the outcome this weekend.

Win out and we'd still have a better conference record than KY, and the H-H tie breaker over GA. 12-1 SEC Champs, we're still a lock for the playoffs.

I get your sentiment though. I'm nowhere near as apprehensive as you are because I think our players are acutely aware that -"We are not invincible". We've had graduation, transfer, and NFL attrition, but this team is still heavily comprised of players that were key contributors in 2020. They know they can be beat. They've had to learn how to win. Between the 2021 Ole Miss/Purdue debacles and this year's FL near miss, I can't see them coming out flat. They're coming out to put teams away.

We are at home.
We are better than last year
UK has one of the worst Olines in SEC
Notice Rodriguez not being as productive behind this year O
Levi’s is all they have and we will get to him early & often, he’s good for a pick every game.
The score will resemble the LSU game IMO.

Well said. I’ve been a Vol fan since Bill Battle era. I’ve never seen a team this prepared week in and week out before. Heupel is the real deal. Tennessee by 24.

Go VOLS

Wildcat lair is very entertaining right now. Their fan want the team to flop after every 1st down.View attachment 505271

When cramp every first down is your game plan going into the game (not the same as when teams do it late in games because they feel they have to, but it certainly wasn’t the game plan) you know you are reaching.

At the beginning of the season up through the Florida game, my BVS was in full swing. I liked that we were winning, I just wanted us to stop winning ugly and win convincingly. I was the guy from the SEC shorts video that had to be tasered LOL.

But the LSU and Bama games have made me turn a corner. This team is good. VERY good. And when that offense is clicking, no team out there can stop it. I still do think our defense is the weak link, and could very well cause is to drop a game that on paper, we should win.

But at this point in the season, and Heupel's tenure, we have so far exceeded my expectations that I just feel like we're playing with the house's money. Even if we don't make the playoffs, we'll still get a great bowl game and we'll have ridiculous momentum going into recruiting and the off season. I'm letting go of the "anticipation of disappointment" that was burned into me by the last four coaches (and Fulmer's final years) and I'm enjoying the ride and the spotlight. Regardless of what happens from here on, Tennessee is back.
