Kentucky's basketball roster next year

I hate UK, and would love nothing more for the state to burn to the ground.

BUT...they are way closer to a National Title than we have been or will be for a while.

Can't say a thing about them expecting to win one.

Heck, if UT had even 2 All-Americans, we'd be pissed with less than a Sweet Sixteen. If UT had 9 AA's, and didn't win a championship, we'd be screaming to fire the coach.

Just being honest.

I didn't realize UT was so passionate (maybe that's the correct word. idk) about basketball until a year or two ago. Yeah, it's definitely not number one, but UT cares a lot. Impressed me.

It over when the NBA allows straight form HS to Pros.. This one and done is a joke.. A bad one

You think he is gonna play more than 10 min? Prolly not, so unless Andrew gets much better, then it will be about the same

I bet if Andrew doesn't pass, he's one eye-roll away from riding the pine. That's an all-american behind him on the bench.

NBA will never go back to that method. However, I do like the idea of the d-league being a better option. Maybe if the pay was higher and a stipulation that you had to be in it for a year or two before attempting to jump higher.

As for the one and done, your comment is stupid. We'd get the best recruits even if players could do what you say.

I agree somewhat with this statement. However, I do agree with Biopsyman. The one and done rule is a joke and it's ruining college basketball. I say if these kids think they're so great and can make an impact in the NBA, I say let them. It's pointless to see some players stay 1 year in college and go on to the NBA.

I should clarify. His comment is stupid when applied to UK. Yes, it's a bad rule. Ruins the college game. But UK would still recruit the best players with or without the rule.

Why are there so many Kentucky basketball fans on this site? I went to lurk one time over on rupps rafters when calipari got hired, asked the question " Is anyone concerned with the trouble he's had with the ncaa in the past?" and got permanently blacklisted.

I can't speak for others but I enjoy VN because I like seeing a different angle from UT fans. I didn't make my account for a long time, but have been visiting since 2008.

I don't think passion ever entered into UT with basketball until Bruce got here. I could be wrong, but I know at least for me personally, Bruce got me passionate about UT basketball.

I don't know when the passion truly started. I live in the heart of UK land. As an outsider I really noticed how much they truly cared after Bruce left. I guess he got a lot of fans hooked and staying excited.

I think it's that he showed UT fans what was possible for our school's basketball program.

I mean, an Elite 8, a #1 ranking, pulling in great recruiting classes, and even a few AA's in Scotty Hopson and Tobias Harris, plus beating Florida and Kentucky...not to mention, his energy and style of play, we just really got a view of what our program was capable of.

Before Bruce, I couldn't tell you a thing about our basketball program. And that may just be a statement on my "fandom," but I'd be willing to say that others felt the same.

I think once Bruce was hired, and he went into Texas and beat Kevin Durant, we all started to perk up and pay attention to basketball a little more.

Tennessee has always wanted success in basketball. We just didn't know if we could get it.

Now, you look at us, and we refuse to settle for mediocrity in basketball. We expect to be competitive. There's a passion that is here. I think it came from Bruce, but I can only speak for me.

Previewing the 2014-15 Non-Conference Schedule | Kentucky Sports Radio

Looks like the non-conference schedule is tough:

*******

Kentucky vs. Kansas
Champions Classic, Indianapolis, IN
Tuesday, November 18, 2014

The State Farm Champions Classic is back again in 2014, this time in Indianapolis. Kentucky will meet Kansas in Lucas Oil Stadium in the first game before Michigan State vs. Duke in the nightcap.

We’ll get a look at former UK targets Kelly Oubre and Cliff Alexander, plus Duke’s monster recruiting class.

Kentucky vs. Providence
Lexington, KY
TBD

Providence travels to Lexington in 2014 to complete the two-game agreement that included a game in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center last season. UK won in Brooklyn, 79-65.

Kentucky vs. North Carolina
Lexington, KY
TBD

The UK-UNC regular season rivalry returns to Rupp Arena in 2014. We last saw the Tar Heels in Lexington in 2011 when Anthony Davis swatted John Henson to take the game, 73-72.

Kentucky will look to avenge its loss in Chapel Hill last season.

Kentucky vs. UCLA
CBS Sports Classic, Chicago Illinois
Saturday, December 20, 2014

UK will meet UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic, a new three-year round-robin event featuring UK, UCLA, North Carolina and Ohio State. The Cats and Bruins will play in the second game at 3:30 pm in the United Center. It will be the two teams’ first meeting since 2006 when Ramel, Joe, Randolph and the boys lost in the Maui Invitational.

Kentucky @ Louisville
Louisville, KY
TBD

We’ll be traveling to the Yum! Center (groan) to watch UK vs. Louisville as part of the home-and-home series that dates back to 1983. The game will likely be on Saturday, December 27 or Saturday, January 3.

Kentucky vs. BIG 12 school
SEC/Big 12 Challenge
TBD

Texas? Rupp Arena?

The entire SEC/Big 12 Challenge schedule will be released later today.

You ever been to the SEC basketball tournament? The Big Blue Mist is everywhere, kind of like roaches. We just invade, especially where we're not wanted.

Same

Also Kentucky- Texas, Kansas-Florida in big12/SEC

Espn certainly has it hyped:
"1. Texas at Kentucky: Call your friends. Get your popcorn ready. This will be phenomenal. Well, at least it appears that way right now. When Myles Turner, the nation's No. 2 prospect in the 2014 ESPN 100, picked Texas, he transformed the Longhorns into a Big 12 title contender and potential national power. The Longhorns had a solid stable even before Turner's decision. Cameron Ridley and Jonathan Holmes helped the Longhorns orchestrate one of the most surprising runs to the NCAA tourney in the country last season, considering all the departures from the previous season’s team. It’s fitting that Texas' ridiculous frontcourt will face the “Voltron” of college basketball frontcourts. Kentucky will be a problem for the rest of the country. Willie Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress, Dakari Johnson and Marcus Lee would form the nation’s top frontcourt without any help. Add blue-chip recruits Trey Lyles and Karl Towns Jr. and, well, you can see this is a rare pool of NBA prospects in one frontcourt. Plus Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison are back. And a couple McDonald’s All Americans will come off the bench. Is Texas a legitimate contender? Is Kentucky the top team in America and the national title favorite? This matchup could answer both questions. "
