Kentucky's Wiltjer to transfer, after all.

I find the first bolded sentence to be believable, but not the second. It's as if Calipari's ethical standards went way up when he took the UK job with the way he is portrayed by UK fans everywhere.

Wasn't there an entire E60 on the three or four kids he forced out of UK before he even got there so he could bring in Cousins, Wall, and Orton?

What a bad situation for this kid. Without him, Kentucky doesn't win a lot of ball games last year. He has a sweet shot and is very smart. Likely transferring to a Pac-12 school?

Maybe he will take a look at Tennessee. He can then be on the right side of those 30 point blow outs.

Coaches don't just go up to a kid who's been a good player and done nothing wrong and say, "You need to leave. You've been cut." That's not at all how college athletics work. It was almost certainly something like "we'll honor your scholarship, there just may not be many minutes for you." That's pretty much word-for-word what Kiffin said to Tajh Boyd, and everyone here thinks he's some kind of horrible person too.

Not sure what you guys think happened, but if your brilliant theory involves Cal just telling Wiltjer his scholarship had been revoked, I would say that's pretty far-fetched. A kid can read the writing on the wall without a coach threatening him.

It probably does if that "middle" represents a rather large area.
He left UM in a position where they were both going on to probation and looking for a new coach when he took the UK job. That's really all you need to know about what comes first with Calipari and most other coaches.

He was supposed to choose Memphis over Kentucky? What the f@$&?

Yes, he has a sweet shot. Yes, he's a great kid.

He is also a defensive liability that did not develop physically. He still is built like a high school kid with yes, some pudge.

I think Kentucky made a mistake letting Wiltjer go. Didn't he averaged around 10 a game last year. With the same minutes that would have gone up this year. They may need him more than they think.

it was his call. he couldn't defend. If you can't defend, you don't play.

Oh your other all Americans weren't playing that game? Okay gotcha. With or without Noel you all weren't winning that game that night.

Yeah, I've said that before. We would have lost that game regardless. But I don't think it would have been by 30+.

I've been watching UT and UK basketball for decades..Losing Noel wasn't why they lost by 30+..That game was an a$$ kickin' waitin' to happen..

JMHO

Then I guess it will be UT's turn to get curb stomped next.

Why was Pothyress still playing then?

Pay attention... 7 playable guys on the roster. Cal has stated publicly that he was forced to play guys that he normally would not have played because of effort due to a short roster.

I would like to have kept Wiltjer but I understand why he needed to transfer. I'm not sure it's a net positive unless he ends up somewhere where he can be on TV

I understand that but he never could defend anyone either. Stokes ate Pothyress alive the last time we played you guys. Lol

Stokes is a beast down low. Alex was hit and miss down low. He's a much better shooter than Stokes was and could probably use some work inside.

Hell, I'm amazed that you actually know any of your basketball player's names.

Jarnell Stokes, Jordan Mcrae, Josh Richardson, Robert Hubbs, A.J. Davis, Armani Moore, Darius Thompson, Derick Reese, Rawane Ndiaye, Will Barton, Jeronne Maymon. Shall I go on?

Somebody used google.

As for Wiltjer, even with his shooting (which I value), would have been given nothing more than spell minutes next year. (7-10 per game) He can't play D, and is a liability against athletic strong players. While I personally would like to have seen the experience and shooting stay, the loss I think is minimal. Regardless of his scoring prowess, the foundation of all Cal's great teams is defense.

Stokes is tough to handle inside so that's one of his strengths. I do agree that Pothyress is a better shooter but when it comes down to one on one, you have to give Stokes the edge.
