I heard great things about Key, but his time here has been nothing short of disappointing. I'm sure he's a great player but not at the SEC level

This may be one of the worst transfers I csn remember

It's up there with EJ anosike.

I think even Chris Darrington had more of an impact? Maybe Kasongo too?

He’s not that bad. People just had unrealistic expectations for him. Undersized and not athletic. Gonzaga performance didn’t help people’s expectations. Then we had to rely on him more than we should when Barnes struck out on PGs.

I actually don’t recall people having high expectations for him. My recollection is that people were disappointed that we didn’t do better in the portal. People seemed surprised by his quality play at the beginning of the year.

When he's hot he's hot when he's not he's not,

He was hot in the 2nd half of a game a week ago; that's the only time I can recall him actually being "hot" all year save for the Zaga game.
I thought he was player watching him make treys in that game, but he's been pretty much a clanger ever since.

He was forced to play point at the beginning of the season. Lord, what did Barnes see in him to think he was a pg. Hes an effective scorer at times but I think the size in the SEC with some teams impacts him.

He's not a power 5 player. Like basically every transfer Barnes has gotten. Bailey, Anosike, Darrington, Powell.

Bailey was definitely a P5 player and the most effective transfer we have had under Barnes. He had P5 size and athleticism. Unfortunately, he was too streaky and lost his confidence but he had some explosive performances. This year's team would benefit from Bailey on offense....not so much on D. He had a lot of mental lapses on D. Key is just not built for the SEC. He is too slow to get open without working the ball inside-out. He is unable to take advantage of his strong frame because of his lack of height and post moves.

What a bizarre statement given Bailey and Powell both played at multiple Power 5 schools. Powell is having a decent year at Washington State. I’m pretty sure that makes him a Power 5 player.

Pretty much. Tired of watching him back someone down into the lane just to pick up his dribble and stand there or
shoot a complete brick from 10 feet.

He just doesn’t have the athletic ability to shoot over guys at this level. He plays below the rim, and because of that most of his shots are rushed trying to get them off over bigger players.

We have really only seen him hot once
I miss Chandler.

He is basically a player that lit it up in division 2 and moved up and he just cant handle being guarded by superior athletes. Always picks up his dribble before deciding what to do with it and is probably 1-20 shooting his last two games.

I thought he was going to be a downhill wide-body guy who would drive to the rim or get fouled when he first arrived. I don't think anyone on the team is allowed to do that.

Except college bball is littered with guys who weren’t athletic specimens but could shoot the lights out. He’s shot the lights out everywhere except here.

Anybody know if Barnes and his staff are preparing to offer a scholarship to Jahvin Carter from Alcoa High School who is a high scoring guard prospect in the Class of 2025?

Thanks for any information.

Get out of here with this junk. He is much better than any grad transfer we have had during Barnes era. His stats are better across the board than Bailey, per average, and will pass most of Bailey’s 2 year totals in just one year. Plus he’s a better defender and 3pt shooter (VB- 30% TK-35%). He’s just not consistent at all this year.

His defense is average at best, off the ball defense is atrocious!! Did anyone see the back door dunk he gave up saturday? He wasn’t guarding the ball or his man so what was he guarding? I wish this was the first time. Barnes called an immediate timeout just to chew on him and then surprisingly left him in the game?
