I feel strongly that if our guards start getting the ball into Keyen better/ more often we’d be a lot better team. She’s the strongest, most skilled and determined post we’ve had in a very long time, and I love watching her use that strength to score. She actually ELEVATES OFF OF THE FLOOR, people!!!! She works hard both before and after she receives the ball, and if she had all her current skills AND Tamari’s height, she’d be absolutely unstoppable. Even without any extra height she’s going to be our best option against physical defenses.

We’ve got us a real go-getter in Keyen.

She really knows how to use her strong lower body to carve out position. I thought I saw in last year highlights that she has a decent mid-range game. Would love to see it.

Definitely an important addition to this roster.

I totally agree! Get her the ball on the block and let her go to work! Teams will begin to send a defender and we have shooters that wont hesitate to shoot (just hope they hit them).

Tend to agree with you that she is better fundamentally. And, you just can’t tolerate the number of turnovers Key is making per minute played.

Yes she turns the ballover like many other players on the team. But let`s get real Key keeps this team in a lot of games with her defense and that`s a fact. Not a swipe at Green but she has yet to face any stiff post competition. Well that`s coming soon. Teams with size and post players over 6-1 on our schedule Tex, A&M,Uconn,Ala,Old Miss, Miss State,KY, SC,GA,Aub,

Keyen is clearly a better offensive player, but she will give up a lot on defense. Tamari is a tough one to assess. It's almost like you accept anything you get from her on offense because of the way she can change the game on defense. 6'5+, mobile for her size, long arms and excellent timing on shot blocks is not a combination that a lot of players have.

The combination of Green at the 4 and Key at the 5 seems like the best way to take advantage of their skills. Green could even post up on offense, but I feel like you need to find a way to keep Key on the court as much as possible.

I agree Green would be better at the 4 not the 5, If KJH keeps starting or playing her at the 5 could run into problem with the better teams on our schedule.

I agree and think that's where the change in the starting lineup needs to be (outside of Horston), Key should be starting instead of Marta.

Is she eligible to come back for another season. She would only be better and would help with the transition of Striplin to this level. We'll only have Key, Saunders and freshman Striplin inside with Marta also playing in there some. If not we have to be thinking of another transfer for the inside as I don't know if Saunders will ever be capable of much playing time at this level.

Agreed.

I’ve been thinking — and I believe at least one other person here has, too — that if Tamari is taking a breather, I would LOOOOOVE to see a few minutes of Green at the 5 and ... drumroll, please ... Jordan Horston at the 4. I’d have Walker at PG, Burrell, Davis on the wings, and Horston and Keyen mixing it up in the lane. I believe they’d be brilliant together.

Even if it is a kick out back to one of the other girls, it still opens a new opportunity. Our girls seem to be more for themselves than they are for the team, and the sad thing is, it is allowed. I've watched every post game presser and she brings out that we need to share the ball, move more, and look for a better shot but she never demands it. She needs to hold them responsible while sitting on the bench when they don't execute that

As far as I am concerned you hit nail on head here....with both Key and Green in at same time the high low combination should click like a well wound clock with interchangeable parts at the high and low posts. But ,I have seen little to indicate that our head coach has interest in a high/low post game....she talks a good game at her after game pressers but have not demonstrated that in her offense either this year ( so far ) or last year either .Key will definitely have to play a lot more than she has in 1st two games because of her defensive prowess against taller teams for us to have a chance to win against good to great teams.

Although technically (in other years) she would not be eligible, due to Covid-19, the NCAA has granted all seniors an extra year should they want it and it will not hurt scholarships.

So Rennia, KK, Jaiden, and Keyen could return.

Out of the 4, I could see Keyen exercising that option because she really wants to play at the next level. And 2 years at a Power 5 may get her a shot at least a WNBA tryout and if not, definitely some overseas opportunities.

I am not a fan of having two of the posts on the court at the same time much at all. But, the one stepping away can’t be KK. She thinks she is supposed to hoist up 17 footers that are ridiculous. I prefer one post but if there are two, I’d go Green.

We really need one more solid player to add to the big three and then just rotate the posts.

and while we are getting real she needs to demand the ball on offense. the team tries to get it into her and she fumbles. I love Key but she is too nice ! she needs to stop getting put on her arse and send a few to the floor lol. She has so much potential and her pick and rolls with Horston are a beauty.

I guess i just want more out of her and hopes she wants it out of herself but sometimes she just looks content. Man i miss Nikki Anosike!

Well the post coach is back John so maybe things will change with him being able to work with her on the offesive end . But right now she is the only rim protector we have that can deal with the top teams post players.

i didn’t get to watch the game ... did he play with the same intensity as she did ?? i’m sure their mom instilled that in all her kids
[/QUOTE]

He is definitely going to contribute

hit his first shot then freshman blues got to him and he missed his next few
built like Schofield of last year, very solid high post PF strong as an ox
the team looked brilliant with stretches of lulls,,,but the will be the cream of the SEC I think

I agree she is not lazy and shows no fear. I believe right now she is our best post. I like her a lot.

I like her and feel she's our most powerful post, but the best....given a choice between Keyen and Tamari,,,I'd have to go with Tamari, hands down
Well coach we don’t disagree on much, however, I would like to see Key play tougher and not foul so much. I think she has the potential to be a very good player. She also need to keep on with her strength training. At her height I would like to see her be more dominant.

We do agree on everything you said here though

We need to get Emily quality minutes, let her get in the flow and see what we have with her.She seems virtually unstoppable under the basket! Furman game would be a good time to do this...
