We need to get Emily quality minutes, let her get in the flow and see what we have with her.She seems virtually unstoppable under the basket! Furman game would be a good time to do this...

If Emily was "unstoppable" in the low post, I'm thinking she would probably be playing...

Y'all turning Emily into a joke like poor rod wilks on the football forum.

She will not play meaningful minutes this year unless we have at least 2 post injuries.

IDK about minutes but I've always thought Emily had a nice soft touch on her shot and she was a capable scorer down low. She has a big body she is still developing and she can establish position really well. The issue with her is more about getting her the ball. Once she is in position 3 feet away, she can make that shot.

He is definitely going to contribute

hit his first shot then freshman blues got to him and he missed his next few
built like Schofield of last year, very solid high post PF strong as an ox
the team looked brilliant with stretches of lulls,,,but the will be the cream of the SEC I think[/QUOTE]
Freshman blues? EJ is a grad student transfer. I loved his fight and determination he showed against Colorado. Also why Nicky was one of my all time favorite Lady Vols.

and while we are getting real she needs to demand the ball on offense. the team tries to get it into her and she fumbles. I love Key but she is too nice ! she needs to stop getting put on her arse and send a few to the floor lol. She has so much potential and her pick and rolls with Horston are a beauty.

I guess i just want more out of her and hopes she wants it out of herself but sometimes she just looks content. Man i miss Nikki Anosike!

That will come with time. She is two different players on the court. On defensive, she is a hunter who will block shots, slide in the lane and play aggressive. On the offensive end, she is more passive but I don't think that difference is a function of character or desire.

She needs to develop a go-to post move that she is very confident about. Second, being a lean, 6-5 has disadvantages. Key has a high center of gravity and her lower body strength is not where it needs to be. So, she is easily pushed off the block. In her limited minutes, it is hard to tell how much she has improved those weaknesses from last year but the covid disruption probably did not work in her favor.

While we are on the topic, KK has a lot more lower body strength so she is better at getting and holding position down low. Her down side is a very minimal vertical leap and her wingspan seems proportionately small for her size. There a lot of 6-2 players who are better jumpers and have much wider wingspans and they effectively play bigger.

Green at 6-1 with a better vertical leap and probably a similar wingspan to KK, is probably equivalent in terms of functional size.
