Keys to winning in Athens

Make Bennett throw the ball, jump on them early and force their hand. Basically the plan all year. Our secondary, IMO, is not as bad as the numbers say. You jump on teams by 14-21 and they're forced to throw the ball all game, you're going to have gaudy numbers put up on you. Not saying the secondary is elite by any means, but they're not as awful as the numbers say. They may not lie, but they can be deceiving.

The more I think about it, the more I believe home field advantage is neutralized by our offensive scheme. It could, honestly, hurt their defense with trying to make pre-snap adjustments.

I like our chances.

I think it comes down to stopping the Dawgs run game, if we can stop their running attack and force Stetson to try and beat us with his arm I think we win by 10+ but if we can't stop the run we will be in for a long day in Athens! I do believe that Bama is a better team than Georgia but I think the one area where Georgia is better than Bama is the run and we need to focus on that, stop the run and I honestly believe you beat Georgia, we need our LB's ready to jump some routes on the TE throws that Stetson likes to try and force into coverage sometimes and I think Georgia starts to crack! GO VOLS LETS WIN THIS ONE!
Good blocking from our WRs (as they’ve done all year) and penalty free football will be a huge necessity along with stopping the run to add to your post.

Meh it will still be an advantage. Our preparation is our advantage.

Like in winning any game, force them outside of their game plan and your chances of winning go up drastically. Make Bennett beat you with his arm and get to him as much as possible, got good pressure on Bryce Young but he was to elusive, Bennett isn’t. Our offensive line needs to play the best game of their lives and keep Hooker off the ground.

Georgia’s D: tied for 69th in interceptions, 120th in sacks, 98th in tackles for loss.

Tennessee’s D: tied with 14 teams at 22nd for interceptions, tied with 7 teams at 33rd for sacks, tied with 7 teams at 31st for tackles for loss.

They don’t tend to create a lot of negative plays…….if they can’t get after Hooker……it could be a long night for them.

On the flip side, Tennessee gets after it. Bennett has 9td’s to 3 picks and 7 sacks. Tennessee “could” force him into some bad decisions or at least throw aways.

Gotta be able to contain Bennett too . Some forget he can make plays with his legs when he wants to. Keep contain, play aggressive like we have and honestly think this we win this game.

We've already got the keys, brother....see below
  1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
  2. Play for and make the breaks. When one comes your way—SCORE.
  3. If at first the game—or the breaks—go against you, don’t let up . . . put on more steam.
  4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.
  5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle for this is the WINNING EDGE.
  6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
  7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.
I have spoken.
I approve.

no turnovers
start fast
stop their run game
get pressure on their qb
no missed fg's or extra points
create/get a turnover or 2
protect hooker / give him time to make plays

Even though it took everything we've got to squeak out a last second win vs. Bama at home, here's what's encouraging...we left a lot of points/margin on the field:

1) We gave Alabama a TD with the fumble exchange on the mesh handoff. 7 points.
2) The refs gave Alabama 4 points on the ridiculous PI call in the end zone on Rucker that should've been offensive PI. Instead of kicking a FG, they ended up with a TD. 4 points.
3) Keyton missed two deep passes that should've been TDs because he slowed up while the ball was in the air, misjudging them. Tillman catches at least one of those, probably both. 7-14 points.

That's 7-14 more points that we should have scored and 11 points that were given to Bama either by UT or by refs. So that's an 18-25 point swing.

In other words, we can easily be better. Tillman is now back. All those guys who missed the Bama game...Hadden, Charles (for a chunk of it), Mincey (a chunk of it), are all healthy. The secondary is getting better. Is Georgia really better than Bama? I'm not convinced. If they are, it's not by much. Tennessee hasn't played its best game yet. Saturday would be a good time to do it.

Georgia looked a little shaky at times when Florida went up tempo. We are going to turn that up to 11 and we'll see who breaks first.

I hope our pass rush is on again bc Bennett can throw the damn ball. Think we may have to spy Bennett some too bc he will take off if it's there. Then there's the tight ends to tend with. Maybe stick Slaughter on Bowers all game

I doubt anyone sticks to a particular TE/WR. Tennessee plays a lot of zone. Especially if we spy Bennett like you're suggesting.
