Everybody used to rag on me when said we needed some more speed on offense. Kiffin came in and immediately stated that we needed playmakers on offense. This past weekend it was apparent that we lack speed on offense. I hope we keep going in the direction that we're going in as far as recruiting real speedy playmakers. Last staff left the offense decimated on the edge.

Wrong, we lack a qb and depth.

speed hasnt lost us a game yet. its a below average qb that cant get the ball to our speed guys/playmakers we have & half ass o-line play at times. Posted via VolNation Mobile

I agree with lock down 1. Florida has twice the speed that we have on offense. I have heard many coaches say the 3 things they look for in recruting is speed, speed, speed. Something Fulmer hasn't recruited the past few years.

I am by no means taking up for Crompton, but if we had some speed at receiver they might could get open down field. Just a thought.

Agreed. Speed on O has hurt us, especially last year. At least at this point, we are playing two RBs that can threaten a team.

Gerald jones was wide open in the UCLA game and Crompton missed him.

Gerald Jones had a step on his defender down the field on Saturday, however Crompton under threw him and ended up getting intercepted.

Gerald also had a step on his guy in the end zone but Crompton hesitated and ended up throwing it too late. Jones wound up with it out of bounds.

We had receivers wide open against UCLA, however Crompton didn't see them.

We have speed. What we don't have is a compitent quarterback and talent/depth on the O-line.

We could use some speed on special teams. It's been a long time since we broke one for a T.D.

I agree. not only returning but on coverage. we got our butts kicked in the return game this week.

Yeah, I don't know what Oku is showing the coaching staff in practice on kickoff returns, but he can't be showing it in the games. He just seems too apprehensive and unwilling to try and break some plays because he is more worried about fumbling the ball.

Why would anybody rag on you if you said we needed more speed on offense. An offense can never have enough speed.

You just don't know do you. Are you somewhat new to this board? Whenever I've said something in the past I got ragged on until it comes to be rue and then I just hear silence. I started a thread a while back suggesting for Taurean Poole to transfer. I was getting layed into pretty hard when it happened. Now people are saying he's unhappy but I could see a situation like this happening a mile off.

I have been thinking about him as being a transfer candidate since the BB signing. I'm actually surprised he has stuck around. Barring injury, he will never get the playing time I'm sure he is looking for.

Nukeese is fast, but he has to be able to field the punts consistently so that the coaches have faith that he won't fumble the ball and give up field position. I get the point though. Obviously, when you look at the recruiting board, at UF's commits, CUM covets speed over size at the skill positions. He'd rather have a 5'8 reciever/corner that runs 4.3 than a 6'2 guy that runs a 4.5.

We had one open on Saturday running down the field. Crompton threw a interception. A little more on the throw and it would be a huge gain.
