It turns out the Trojans did not know the Warriors would be running the "Pistol" offense — a spread attack in which the running back lines up behind the quarterback — until defensive boss Monte Kiffin saw it on the news Wednesday night.
I didn't watch any of it. Did they go with a vanilla defense, look terrible, or both?
They looked bad... it was about the same thing that you saw from us when we played Ohio last year. But like the prev poster said, i think it had a lot to do with not going full speed in practice. The spread will give Monte some serious problems this year.
They gave up almost 600 yards to vacation town. I loved it. They are gonna get murdered this year. They had better talent and should have won 63-14. What a loser. Monte must be hitting scenile status with all that talent and giving up 36 points. Have fun boys lmao.
you saw them give up 500 yards to a wac team and you don't think oregon, oregon state, cal, arizona, or stanford can do the same?
my point exactly. they have the talent to shut teams down occassionally but not consistently. they remind me of florida 07. lots of 1st round talent and their future looked good on d. but that year they ad about 5 games they shut ppl out and then the rest of the year they gave up a ton of points. but i am more suprised with monte looking this bad.
I'm probably the only one but:
1) I still like Kiffin - he's fun to watch and never boring. I'm glad he left but hope he does well.
2) I hated USC under Carroll but now I'm pulling for them to run the table this year.
3) I have doubts about Monte - his players were in schemes last night that just didn't fit what Hawaii was doing. Maybe it was the Pistol but for me the jury is out on Monte and the Spread.
