Consider who he was coaching for, a senile Al Davis; also if you held having a mess of a stint as Raiders coach, you'd have a long list considering how quickly the Raiders have gone through coaches since Gruden.

Also as I've pointed out, Kiffin's beef with Davis was that he wanted nothing to do with Russell at QB, and Davis wanted him as starter. Point Kiffin.
