Kiff's Strategy...Start Crompton...

sadly Crompton is the best we have, its as simple as that

JC can be a solid qb if he improves his footwork and overall mechanics. If he has a good performance or two he may regain his lost confidence and even become a leader. Physically, there is no reason he cannot be an sec qb.

I think a better strategy would be to show unequivocal improvement and be competitive in all games (maybe even win one we shouldn't have). A top-tier QB just might want to apart of it.

Kiffin simply did not have enough time do land us a qb. He did an amazing job with the 3 months he had and I'm excited to see the prospects he will pull in this year. However, the thing about Kiffin is he will find a qb that he likes best not one that we do. He said no to Tajh Boyd and I would not be at all surprised if he recruits a 3 star qb instead of a 5 star. Simply because he wants someone who fits his system whoever that may be I will support his decision.

Your telling me that Crompton is ahead of Stephens, mentally? Your talking about a guy who said after the fumble in the Auburn game last year that needed to see the tape before he could figure out what happened...come on! I will agree that physically, Crompton is the best of the three, but I saw nothing last year that makes me think he will turn it around in '09...

Stephens at least moved us down the field some...almost every pass from Crompton was 8 yards off target or batted down at the line of scrimmage....

No, I'm saying Stephens is just not clearly ahead of any of them mentally. There is nothing that stands out about him at all. And when do you remember him moving the ball?? He had some rare moments in the Georgia game, but that was it.

I don't disagree with your assesment of last year at all, I'm just saying that I think the only two clear options are to really hope Kiffin and Reaves can really turn Crompton around, or to let Coleman have his shot. I am saying Stephens is no better than a 5-7 QB, he made me lust for JP Wilson....and I should go straight to Hell for saying that.

I disagree. I think if this class was about reputation we wouldn't have turned Taj Boyd away.

I think turning down Boyd was a mistake , but I'm not getting paid the big bucks to make that decision

They may have been rare moments, but he gave us a shot to win the game...that and Eric Berry just man handling everyone...all crompton had to do against Auburn was get one first down in the second half and we could have kicked a field goal, he couldnt even move us ten yards...

I may end up being wrong about Stephens, but I cannot see Crompton being the starter...I tend to lean more toward your logic of giving Coleman a shot...

Crompton is the most physically gifted quarterback we have had in a while...has all the physical tools, but it has not translated to the actual game....I want to see him succeed as much as anyone, but just not sure if he is the man...

Maybe the simplicity of Kiff's offense will help...
I honestly thought we made the mistake of putting too much on Crompton early last year and it only got worse as the season went along...throwing the ball 40+ times against UCLA was dumb...should have kept running the ball...

But, thats last year and this is this year...nonetheless I think we will be vastly improved on the lines (both sides of the ball) and this should help the play of our QB...whoever that turns out to be...

Man you probably should be on your way,but I totally agree. At times last year he looked like my 14 year old daughter, pouting and bi-chin! I hope one of them,I don't really care which one learns how to not beat us! I can't stop with the emoticon.
