Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

So... Are we still thinking this is her publicist? Have any of these players we should be recruiting even heard of marshall or her ? She wasn't there long enough lol

On a positive note she looks like she has long arms. Pat had long arms.
Anyone know where Caldwell played basketball?

Caldwell is an incredibly successful, very young coach. She's obviously going to be at a big program soon. I get the name value is low, but I'm not sure the outrage is justified. If there's any truth to it that is.

It's not outrage. It would just be a failure by White. Anybody could hire Caldwell. This is a program with eight national titles. We've suffered from having two coaches who were not even close to first-rate--one with zero head-coach experience who spent most of her career as second assistant and famed "friend of Pat" and the other got sacked by NC State and was coaching at Missouri State--not a terrible hire but not a good hire, either.

So we'd now hire another coach with almost no major-college experience? Uh, no--you don't do it, I don't care how well she did last year. If you can't land a topper, then you go all out to hire somebody like Fortier--32-4 this year at Gonzaga, 16-0 in the conference--mid-major coach of the year. That's your target type. Hiring Caldwell would suggest strongly that either White is simply wacky or that he failed to do his job and land the right coach. Look at Kentucky--they made a very good and logical hire. Who'd you rather have--Brooks or Caldwell?

Shes from Parkersburg, WV. Her dad was a successful HS girls coach. She played PG at Glenville State in West Virginia. Her first HC job was at Glenville State. Then Marshall.

Lol

This thread is so crazy, that it is coming close to riding those Gruden Train threads.

Meanwhile no one knows what Danny White is doing, just like he wants it be.

I’m sorry but you must not have participated in the Gruden threads!

Gruden thread would be way past a thousand pages by now. That was some crazy sh*t, these are rookie numbers..

The big problem here is that unless we hire a man, we can’t look at tie colors for guidance. 😡

For a lot of reasons you mention, these rumors don't make a lot of sense. The national media story would not be about The LVs' great hire but "why the heck did you fire an established coach like Kellie Harper for a newbie who is not even at a mid-major?"

So, color me skeptical. But if true, White must have a lot of faith in his ability to "pick a winner" and I simply won't mention how "pride goeth before the fall...."

Good thing Joan Cronan never reached out to a small school coach to come to TN. Oh wait, she did. Guess that worked out pretty good.

Anyone believe me that we’ve been rejected several times yet? DW made a shortsighted move. Fortunately for him, football doing well is all that matters.

No. I believe this stuff can take days. I don't believe we've been "rejected several times" just like I am still waiting on the many coaches that turned down the football job. You said " A LOT" so name them for us. Taking 5 days to announce a hire doesn't mean 37 people turned the job down. You're crazy if you think "many people" have turned down this job.

Same publication who said yesterday that a big time coach (Mulkey) wanted the coaching job.
