Yes but those two years are the years Kellie needed to acquaint herself with top recruits. Kim already is in conversations with the 22,23,and 24 players she wants. Kellie didn't have any conversations with UT quality recruits when she started.

That is why hiring assistants that were recruiting top level talent should have been a priority. Good that we are addressing it now but it is late.

That factor is also a contributing to UT football’s poor recruiting start under Heupel. He brought his entire offensive staff from UCF that did not typically recruit SEC level talent nor did they recruit in TN. Not enough time with a loaded 2022 class and of course lack of deep relationships makes rebuttal of rival’s claims about pending NCAA action less persuasive.

Could mean all sorts of things. Could be a message for Kim alone. Only time will tell.

Her players are obviously nervous/upset, but this is life. We don’t see this near as often in the women’s game. Schaefer and Mulkey are probably the two best coaches that have ever left a program in the sport. At least after established success.

Both of them left for similar reasons. Getting a bit older and had the opportunity to finish out their careers’ at their home town school. Can you imagine being a little girl from Louisiana with hoop dreams like Kim, and then one day the school you grew up less than an hour from wants to pay you a gods plenty to come home? How can you pass that up?

Wishing her all the best. Will be an exciting 10 years or so in the SEC. Like some others I’m not terribly concerned about UT. I do truly believe Kellie is competitive enough to ensure we have a fighting chance every year. If anyone should be worried it’s Dawn IMO. She’s enjoyed a period of time at the top of the SEC where the other perennial favorites were undergoing change. The road to an SEC championship will be much more difficult than it already was from here on out.

You can tell SC fans are worried already because every single on of them has stopped by to let us know how “not worried” they are lmao.

If Mulkey is able to bring multiple players over from Baylor then I could see LSU becoming a top 3 team in the SEC immediately. They won’t have enough depth yet to beat SC or A&M but they’d be an instant problem for everyone else.

If i was Baylor i would throw the bank at Dawn Staley

You keep suggesting that, but do you really believe a highly outspoken, black female advocate for racial/gender justice from Philly is the right fit for a deeply conservative college in Waco, Texas??? She'd be insane to even entertain the thought of going to Waco. I'm sure it's sometime hard enough to be Dawn in conservative South Carolina. But Texas? Nope.

Phil Jackson has 8 championships and was one of the best 2 top coaches. But when he left to another team tried to come back, that was the end of him. He couldn't coach anymore. Not sure if he was finally got fired or he resigned.

I agree with most of the comments in your post VolBall09 except who should be worried. If Dawn should be worried, then what about Kellie? Dawn has a NC and 6 SEC championships. Kellie has to prove that she can accomplish this. I am not saying that she cannot but she has to prove what Dawn has already accomplished.
