Whether it's millions or thousands, it doesn't matter. They still have a growing fan base. To say otherwise is absurd.

i never said their fan base wasn't growing. you said "sure they were picking up millions each year" and i simply disagreed.

like KOL, their earlier albums were better. sell out or not.

I do admit I like the first two albums the best, but I still think it's all good. That could be because I, like many of the more recent fans, didn't know about them until I heard "Sex On Fire" and "Use Somebody", which led to me buying Only By The Night then going from there. I was heavily hooked on Come Around Sundown after I got it for Christmas. It's a different sound than Only By The Night, but if you really think about it, each album they've made has it's own sound. Youth and Young Manhood is basically loose and fast. Aha Shake Heartbreak is pretty much like that with maybe a more cleaned up sound to it (band sounds tighter, Caleb isn't singing so mush mouthed). Because of the Times is kind of their transition into their newer sound, but isn't as "mainstream" sounding as Only by the Night. Only by the Night was where their sound really changed (Cold Desert, the final track on this album is probably my favorite song of theirs). Come Around Sundown is a different sound than Only by the Night. The whole album seems a little more relaxed to me.

Sorry, bro. KOL is making good music like Katie Perry is making good music. Just sayin, not hatin. Whatever floats your boat, could be rock and roll, could be teennie pop. Just call it what it is.

Oh, and anyone who knows anything about KOL knows they are giant douchebags, it was just accepted when they made good music. Just how else exactly do you explain
someone cancelling a show because a bird
sht on their head?

This guy is just regurgitating an article he read in pitchfork media. It's a stock paragraph out of the hipster handbook. I've seen it a hundred times. Pay him no mind -- as he will formulate nary a thought of his own volition -- but do
compliment his skinny jeans...they are pretty sweet.

:hi: See how that works? I think it's good, you think it sucks but we both agree they didn't sell out.

KOL on the other hand, targeted the teen choice award voters and got screwed.

Hipsters lack the ability to evaluate music with their own ear. I feel bad for them. Music isn't that complicated. I hear a song that I like...end of discussion. Hipsters hear a song they like and then they ask why they like it or whether they're supposed to like it. Remember how back in 7th grade, you tossed off and then you felt guilty about it. You didn't know whether you were the only, or whether other kids did it too? This is how hipsters feel when they hear a pop song that they like. They'd be mortified if their mom caught them.

For the record, if I'm putting together a KOL playlist, Use Somebody is on it, because Use Somebody is a good song. Trani is also on it, and tapered jean girl, and ragoo. Why? Because they're good songs. And I have the luxury of allowing that question to be the end of the analysis.

But if somebody just happens to say those songs suck its because they read pitchfork and not because, you know, they just think they suck?

i like all their albums as well (2nd and 3rd the most). sell out or not, it's better than 80% of the crap you hear now a days.

Enjoy KOL music very much I think they have a different sound and so far I like it . I really don't care if they are a-holes or not. They sometimes give Mt Juliet some love and we need all the love we can get

Good band. Unique sound. Great live. Period. You clowns can argue about selling out, relapses, having crazy Pentecostal parents, or whatever you want. Sounds like a bunch of whining.

Making fun of skinny jeans? :lolabove: Pretty ironic for a KOL fanboy.

I don't read Pitchfork and I don't wear skinny jeans, but whatever helps you listen to Sex is on Fiiiiiiiiiire.

Yeah, only rock stars can pull off skinny jeans. Nobody makes fun of rock stars for wearing tight clothes. That's what they've been doing for 4 decades.

Yea, but in KOLs case it's especially funny because they used to talk **** about skinny jeans (like the poster above) ... That all changed of course when they went and got their make-overs at the record company :eek:lol:

I personally like most of KoL's stuff. I really like Back Down South off their new album and Cold Desert off Only by the Night. I thought this was supposed to be a thread for fans to discuss their music not for a bunch of butthurts to whine about them "selling out".

Probably my favorite Kings of Leon song. The live version off of the London concert DVD is awesome.
