We see atrocious officiating so often that it becomes common, but reversing a PI call over a crowd throwing bottles and trash on the field is way too much. They not only reversed the call, but didn't penalize the Texas crowd for unsportsmanlike conduct. The games already last too long with commercial breaks and official reviews that stop play. But do you see where this is leading? If a home crowd is able to influence officials like in Austin last night, then the visiting teams are handicapped.

I believe the NCAA and the SEC officiating oversight needs to address this publicly now, admit the obvious error, and punish the head official responsible for this call. More than anything, they need to reassure all coaches and institutions that this was a one-time gaffe that will never be precedent going forward.

Glad that got attention, SEC officiating continues to get worse each season. They need to emphasis better training for next year. Perhaps the players are going to fast for the officials, not sure...

I do think College Football, in general, needs to review its rule book and tone down some of the more subjective penalties like holding. I am a fan of reducing Holding from 5 yard to 10 yard penalty unless there is some type of egregious holding like grabbing arms, legs, helmet, etc. which is safety issue. I also think grabbing Jerseys should NOT be holding.

I still don't quite understand some of these calls about illegal procedure or lining up. Not sure why they even exist.

Better clarity on what is defined as pass interference would help as well.

Is there even a foul they can all on the crowd? If there is, then how do you know which fans threw the bottles? Seems like an easy rule to abuse. Instead, I think they should tell everyone that they are calling the game if it doesn't stop.

It was a bad PI call.

To reverse it? Equally bad

UGA could have gotten another Targeting call but didn't. They were headhunting in the second half.

If there was and I was the visiting team, I could be throwing trash to get the home team penalized.

As I've said before, pay the refs. Pay them more for big games. Grade crews. Whoever grades highest gets the big games. If a crew is grading bad, they're going to get rid of the guys who are making them grade bad.
Pay is the same but the better crews are supposed to get the bigger game. Tx-Ga crew should be demoted or even fired. That was two horrible decisions.

I knew when I saw the Elmer Fudd-looking MFer as head official do the Vol game it would be a cluster. He & his crew are terrible.

I expect us to get jobbed by the refs in Athens. We”ll have to beat Georgia and the crows and the zebras

Honestly, our odds to win there are probably low. As a fan, approach it like we are going to lose and hope for the best. The one positive is that all the pressure could be on Georgia to win. We have a team that can win but it is going to be a very hard one to win.

Kirby ain’t shat.
He has been on the gifted end so many times and the one time it doesent go his way he’s a toddler.
You are allowing your personal dislike for Kirby to cloud your judgment on a call that breaks with sportsmanship and precedent. Picture this scenario going down in Tuscaloosa with us as the visiting team and their crowd going ape crazy and then awarding Bama the ball inside our 10 after reversing a PI call. No matter how bad the call may have been, the reversal shouldn't have happened.

The precedent that it sets could have long term consequences if this isn't addressed. Leave it to SEC officials to screw things up. Will raucous crowds cause them to reverse holding penalties at crucial times late in a game? Moreover, are we now going to allow home crowds to influence officials' calls during the course of a game?

Changing a call after fans trash the field is akin to negotiating with terrorists.

Refs are really trying to make Texas look good In their first SEC season. Too bad about Oklahoma looking dreadful.....
Not to mention the cake arse schedule they got handed. Georgia is the only upper echelon team they had thrown at them, most everybody else got 2 or 3 really tough conference games at least. I was concerned Texas might come in and buy up a bunch of influence with the SEC office and it seems it might be happening.

Conference needs to step in to keep the Texas ostrich boot crowd in line with a significant fine, any other legacy SEC program would have had an unsportsmanlike penalty in game and a solid six figure fine before 9:00 a.m. today Austin time.

Texas has single handedly destroyed 2 previous conferences and those affiliations, the SEC doesn't need the Texas arrogance anywhere near the level they want and need our structure, configurations, atmosphere, bowl affiliations, television and conference revenue share, conference needs to show them what the consequences are for such conduct, shut that sideshow down now, not later.

In the Big 12, Texas had one big regular season game that attracted the national media, the SEC has national media, coverage and exposure every week in all sports,

I agree that it will be very difficult to get a win in Athens but Georgia does have to play at Ole Miss the week before so they won’t have the luxury of just zeroing in on our game like in recent years.
