Kirk Cousins (Mich St. QB) Players Speech from Big10 Luncheon

All my MSU buddies rave about this guy. It's like they just discovered they had a football team. It was priceless observing them during last season. They even admitted they didnt know what to think of the success. But in all honesty, Cousins is a great student athlete. I believe he's planning on med school after football and I have no doubt that he will succeed in that field as well.

2 quick notes:
1) Im sorry your buddies dont know more about football. But I suspect you are blowing that story out of proportion. Can you remind me again, where does the Paul Bunyan trophy reside. . . . and has been residing for the last 3 years?

2) Cousins will have to put med school off for a while, because he will be playing football in the NFL. Hey, maybe he can throw some passes to Shoelaces, because there is no way HE makes it as a QB in "the league"

d) GO GREEN

All in all, I rate your attempt to slam MSU Football as a D-. Pretty lame.

EDIT: and if I took your post wrong, I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for sounding like a d*ck. If I didnt, I still dont mean to sound like a d*ck.

Great speech. He referenced no "religious stuff" just text/verse which supported his point - greater rewards come with greater responsibilities. If anything he has speech-writing to fall back on.

Im relaxed. I should have posted a bunch of smilies so no one thought I was being hostile.

:hi:
:dance2:
:)
:clapping:

As a Michigan State fan, you get used to hearing certain things from michigan fans. And if volinmichigan is like 99.9% of all michigan fans, I read him perfectly.

But Im still smiling. :peace2:

EDIT: But of course, if I did read him wrong, I am extending my sincerely apologies.

yeah ok, a lot of assumptions going on here. Let me clarify.

1.) I was commenting on the fact that my MSU friends who all graduated within the last 3 years have not been accustomed to winning football. MSU didn't have a great stretch when my friends were there, so I was commenting on the fact that now that the team is performing well, they feel like it's foreign territory. They aren't all huge football fans either, so they aren't constantly telling me about their history.

2.) How and why you think I'm a Michigan fan is beyond me. I've got a UT flag hanging in front of my house in a neighborhood full of MSU and Michigan fans. Although I have always considered MSU the lesser of the two evils when it comes to the two schools. I just moved here 2 years ago, so I don't really give a s*** who beats who because I'm usually watching a Tennessee game or some other non-Big 10 game on Saturdays.

3.) I was actually agreeing that Cousins is a great person on and off the field.

**Just on a side note, my friends are always trying to get me to come to East Lansing for tailgating. They may have a great time, but nobody, and I mean nobody, tailgates like the SEC. They do not understand this.

Don't get me wrong GatorBill, I have no love for the Wolverines. My new neighbor who just moved in actually went to App State, so we have a great time bashing UM. And the great thing about it is, all the UM fans really just kind of have to take it. They're such a defeated fan base these days it's kind of depressing.

He was impressive. Would have been better without the religion stuff.

But the "religion stuff" is what made him who he is and what gave him his perspective. It was fundamental to his speech

I just think u lose a big audience when u start talking about religion and sports.

Just a personal opinion.

No worries man. Sorry about the unfortunate circumstances of you being back in MI. I love it when I see a Gator fan say Go Vols.

exactly the subset of the population that you would want to lose.... if his name was patel and referenced a hindu verse ... no one would have a problem with it.... just because pmsnbc tells you that its inappropriate doesn't mean it is

Thanks. As I was saying, rough week. Made worse by having tire issues (on new tires) both directions.

It is not going to be easy trying to see the good side of this whole "vols" thing, :whistling: but this is my daughters legacy to leave, and Im going to make sure it is a good one. So 100% support from me!

there is going to be a week this fall where I will disappear from this place, you can almost count on that. (probably 2 or 3 weeks if the gators win. I never leave after a loss. I always come in to take my lumps)

Just heard this speech. I've been down on college sports for awhile and this speech gave me a glimmer of hope that I can be enthusiastic about college sports and the athletes who play them again. Regardless, I am now a fan of Kirk Cousins.

*And as an aside, to those who say leave the religion out...if his faith wasn't important enough to mention then you might not have a speech with such a message at all...people who say "leave the religion out" will never agree but 9 times outta 10 a person's faith (any of conviction and substance, not just Christian) is what would compel a "privileged" person to say "it's more important to do what is right, than what feels right". JMO IMO
