Knox County Passes Mandatory Indoor Face Masks

Seems clear that any mask is better than no mask, and while wearing one helps protect me from breathing in what's out there, it doesn't prevent it from coming along on clothing and skin straight to everyone's elderly family. If you can't see why not taking even such a simple precaution is selfish and stupid, I'm also not sure what to tell you.
A lot of people die or are seriously injured in falls every year. Should the Knox County health board require everyone wear a helmet in public or be subject to 30 days in the pokey? After all a helmet is better than no helmet.

Will the particles that do get thru the mask be sterile? How many particles does it take to catch the virus? If a mask is not 100% effective, what's the point? Saying it helps is pointless if it doesn't prevent.
Nothing completely prevents, but a mask drops your chances Of making somebody else sick by 90%+. Seems like the neighborly thing to do if you have to be in close proximity.

When these people fall, do they spread their fall to several other people?

Also, the 30 days in jail thing is fear mongering. There is no lower level offense in Tennessee than a class C misdemeanor. Jaywalking, going one mile over the speed limit, etc. all are class C misdemeanors with the potential for landing you 30 days in the jail. Does that ever happen? Of course not, because there are guidelines and no judge in his right mind would send someone to jail for going one mile over the speed limit.

Fear mongering? It's the punishment permitted by official order.

Judges have imprisoned hair salon owners for violation of similar decrees during this insanity. If you chose to trust your freedom to a judge not imposing the maximum allowed sentence, that's your choice.

And yes, one person falling can strike others on their way to the ground causing them to fall who may in turn cause even more to fall and so on. What sort of monster are you to not want to protect the public?

His mask typically covered neither the nose nor mouth, though, so it's about as effective as many of the well-intentioned efforts we see on the streets today.
Yeah... but he could create fire whenever he wanted, so most viruses got incinerated periodically. That’s why he never took a sick day.

I don't know how many times it has to be said: masks don't protect the wearer. They protect those around the wearer. If I wear a mask and you don't, you're protected from me but I am not protected from you.

Think of it this way:

If you and I are standing next to each other and neither of us is wearing pants, and I start to pee, you're going to get my urine all over your bare legs.

If you are wearing pants but I'm not, your pants will keep off a little bit of my urine, but you're still going to get most of it on your legs.

But if I'm wearing pants, my urine is going to get soaked up by my pants, and you will stay nice and dry.
Your from Bama, we don’t wet our pants in TN, unless we’ve passed out

Seatbelts aren't 100% effective. Neither is penicillin. Or condoms.

Should we take them all off the market?

We have DUI laws mandated by Government. If people cannot get the message and flagrantly Are irresponsible then Government has to step in to protect the general public.
And if someone with a fever is hacking all over Walmart Is a better analogy to drunk drivers. A healthy individual nose breathing with big personal space shouldn’t be forced to wear a mask.

Inside a public building, I believe they should. Outside not so much , unless it is an outdoor gathering that is confined to an area where social distancing is problematic. Washington County Va. closed down the rails-to trails Virginia Creeper trail for about 6 weeks. That is one of the silly over reach decisions that I disagree with but some of the mandates I do agree with. I believe masks should be mandated indoors. If an individual does not like it they have the freedom to not enter the indoor facility. My opinion only. I know many will agree with me but many will not.
