Knoxville brewery/lunch/brunch recommendations

I live in that area and it's great and really starting to pop up. All the breweries around where you're staying are very kid/dog-friendly **although most rely on food trucks so you're not guaranteed food at all hours** I really like Crafty Bastard, Schultz Brau, and Last Days of Autumn //PSA: Sawworks shut down.

Flats and Taps would be a good spot walking distance-wise for food/drinks/sports for the LSU game. If it's not already on just ask for them to put it on and they should oblige.

Use Uber/lyft; not cabs. You can get around REALLY cheap(~$5-8). I really enjoy Downtown Grill and Brewery's Sunday Jazz Brunch, Petes, and Olibea's are also good.

Ijams is fun, walking around Dtown/market square is nice (rooftop bar at Preservation Pub is fun/free during the day). There are also some nice parks around but not many that are walking distance to Old N Knox.

I see a lot of young families moving into the area but definitely do your research on schools.

Awesome, thanks! We will not be bringing the dogs on this trip, but that's great to know for the future. Unfortunately we won't be able to use Uber/Lyft because our son won't be 1 yet... I guess some individual drivers might not care, but it's not legal. Otherwise we'd use those services the whole time and never see a cab.

I can assure you thought that I will always be rooting against Florida. If that means cheering for UT, then so be it.

ETA: And against Alabama. So we have more than one mutual enemy.

I don’t think it’s illegal for children under 1 to ride with you using Uber. You just have to provide the rear facing car seat.

It can't be worse than Baton Rouge. :banghead2:

Not a chance. You're cutting the population in half essentially from Baton Rouge to Knox County. Greater Baton Rouge is something like 840K people and Knox County is like 450K. Typical busy times in Knoxville are the same as everywhere else, morning rush hour for work/school, evening rush hour for getting off work. Special events, it's not even that bad for weekend games here depending on which route you take.

Exactly, when I moved here in 98, going from west Knoxville to east Knoxville or vice versa in the afternoon was horrific. It's not to bad now comparatively speaking.

Baton Rouge also has a horrific interstate layout... and the Mississippi River is a huge barrier to opening up a loop or alternate routes around the city.

Thanks all for the recommendations! My wife and I had a great long weekend in Knoxville and are now seriously considering moving there. I'm sure I'll be back here looking for more advice and tips, we drove around a decent amount but definitely didn't see even close to everything.
