KU - Easiest path to FF ever?

Are there 12 kids named Morningstar on KU's roster?

KU currently has two, maybe three (if Selby improves), NBA prospects on its roster. The Jayhawks started two players that will never even see playing time in Europe.

This certainly is not Roy Williams' choke job with Vaughn, Pierce, Pollard, and LaFrentz.

So you think VCU is more talented?

How many NBA prospects did Northern Iowa have last season?

This conversation is ridiculous and deep down you know it. Do I think Morehead State was more talented than Louisville? No. Would I take Pitino over most coaches in the nation? Yes. Is Butler more talented than Florida? Does that mean Billy Donovan is a choke artist?

Bill Self won a national championship with the most talented team he has had. With the others, he has not. Short of the national title, I do not really care exactly when and to whom KU loses to.

KU was preseason #4 and they made it to the Elite 8. Not exactly a huge letdown from the preseason expectations. Did it feel like a letdown seeing how that team turned it on in the Big XII Tourney? Yeah. Is it a huge letdown that a team that started Reed and Morningstar (not exactly the most dynamic wings in Kansas...maybe not even the most dynamic in Lawrence) did not win the Championship? Not so much.

Maybe you can say that Bill Self choked because KU lost to Bradley in his first year. Wayne Simien, Michael Lee, and Aaron Miles weren't going to take that team all the way.

Maybe he choked his second year, when his team full of freshman and sophomores lost to Bucknell. The next year they won it all, though.

Maybe he choked when Sherron Collins decided that he would not pass the ball to anyone at anytime in any arena. Sherron Collins might have been one of the most overrated players to ever strap up for KU.

All Bill Self has done in the past eight seasons is win a handful of Big XII Championships, one National Title, and more NCAA Tournament Games than any other coach in that span. You want to call that squandering talent, feel free to do so.

Hell, you made my point for me several times in your post. A program with the pedigree of Kansas should never lose to the likes of Bradley and Bucknell.

Deep down you know this.

The past two seasons, one as a #1 seed and another as the overall #1 seed, Kansas underachieved against less talented teams. Who was the last overall #1 seed that didn't escape the first weekend?

Rationalize it however you wish. Deep down you know I'm right.

As for Billy Donovan, he won back-to-back national titles with one of his lesser heralded recruiting classes. Butler played for the national title last year....not exactly the same as losing to VCU and Northern Iowa, let alone losing as a #1.

Bill Self has consistently underachieved on college basketball's biggest stage against lesser competition.

Deep down you know this is true.

I'll take an "underachieving" coach who wins a major conference title seven out of eight seasons and a National Championship once every eight seasons.

I also like that you are calling a trip to the Elite 8 "underachieving". This surely proves that Bill Self is a coach that does nothing but squander talent.

When you are the region's #1 seed, you are expected to advance to the Final Four.

When that particular region's bracket includes legendary powerhouses such as VCU, FSU and Richmond, you look that much more foolish attempting to defend Self.

Deep down you know I'm right.

You're happy with Self and that's fine. I'm happy with Donovan.

If Kansas won back-to-back national titles in football, then maybe you'd understand my perspective towards college hoops as a UF fan.

oh man getting heated, where is the popcorn?

come on now, you have to be disappointed with Self's coaching ability, even if it is just a little. I know its march madness and all and teams lose all the time to lesser competition, but it just seems that Kansas seems to do it quiet often. just remember they are a mario chalmbers 3 away from a very different resume' for coach self.

with that being said kansas is a top notch program who will be back in the thick of the hype next year because of Bill Self. which is way more than what The likes of tennessee can say....

Definitely KU had the easiest path to a title ever:

16 - 9 - 12 - 11 - 8 - and in the finals they would have played a 3 or a 4. I've never seen anything like that.
