Great interview during the Saints/Cowboys pregame. He grew up with an abusive father. Mother moved him along with his siblings when he was 11. Said the NFL will be fine because of all the men that do the right things.

I bet his father would rethink trying to abuse him now. In more ways than one.

Just watched it. Witten is a great guy. It's even better that he's a VFL. It means a lot for him to come home to UT to talk to our younger guys.

Only needed 106 receiving yards to become only the 3rd tight end in history to post 10,000 yards receiving in his career. VFL and HOF.

I remember him saying how reluctant he was in something I read to switch from DE to TE while at Tennessee. I'm fairly certain that now he never regrets making that change.

Also just flashed a graphic on-screen that he has a Cowboys record with most catches in Cowvoys history. Impressive.

His dad has seemingly overcome his demons and cleaned up over last 10 years, has moved from Virginia to East Tennessee and goes to every Elizabethton game to see Shawn coach. He has been at almost every camp Jason has thrown and was also at the oldest son Ryan's wedding.

Jason has, in some retrospect, allowed his children to have some semblance of a relationship with his father and patch things up in that regard. JW is a much better man than I would be.

It was a shame that Jalen Rose attacked Witten and NBC on Twitter tonight arguing why JW was a face for preventing domestic violence thanks to his work with shelters, etc. in Texas. After being blasted, JR deleted those tweets.

Jalen Rose responded on twitter to one of the local sports writers here in Elizabethton when he said something about it. Made an excuse that the tv didn't have any sound on when he was watching it and then blocked him apparently. Lol

I've met him.a couple of times, super nice. His mom.and brother had some legal issues about 10 years regarding embezzlement...not sure what happened after that
