Tbh we don’t know if McGee is actually a good RB coach, he’s just at UGA where he can just stack 5 stars because of the whole “RBU” nonsense. Won’t be able to recruit RBs at that level here.

He helped his game grow, but Barnett had a drive and will to win inside him all along. A coach can't instill it. It's why some very talented players like JJ Peterson, Grimes, etc can't translate their game to the college level. They don't have that fight in them. You either have it or you don't. The trick in recruiting is identifying those players who have both talent and desire and filling your roster with them.
